Review

@TrademarkedTWOrantula: Thanks for offering to take a look at this article. Feel free to make improvements or flag any issues here. Like I said on my talk page, I want to double check the "best in the world" claim. I'm down to collaborate and GA co-nom here, assuming we're on the same page after you've had a review. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:09, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Comments from TWOrantula

  • Is the correct name "MidCity SmashedBurger" or "MidCity SmashBurger"?
    • Woah! I think the business may have just done a rename because I could have sworn the restaurant was called "MidCity SmashBurger". Looking at most sources, I think "MidCity SmashBurger" is more commonly used. However, since the website uses "MidCity SmashedBurger", I will go ahead and lead with this and add the alt name to the lead. I hope this works for you, but let me know otherwise. ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:41, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
Also, I've moved the page to MidCity SmashedBurger ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:47, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
  • Is that all that can be said for the menu?
  • intersection of 11th - ???
  • tens of thousands of burgers - In my opinion, it would be better to provide a number estimate instead of stating an arbitrary amount.
  • One of the Portland locations features an illustration of a cheeseburger and pointing finger guns by local artist Mike Bennett. The cartoon burger, named Smashy, has become MidCity's mascot. - Shouldn't part of this belong in the description section?
  • Jashayla Pettigrew included the restaurant in KOIN's list of the seven best smash burgers in the metropolitan area, based on Yelp reviews. - Wouldn't recommend highlighting this as Yelp is a user-generated source.
    • I understand what you mean, but in this case I think it is important to note how the list was generated. We are not citing Yelp directly. Also, if an editor prefers to remove this sentence, I won't feel strongly about keeping. But, for now and for the good article submission, I don't mind leaving. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:59, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
  • References #24 and #25 are duplicated and have an incorrect title.

I'll try to find more international sources for "the best burger in the world" claim; otherwise, I'd recommend removing it. TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 23:25, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

I also found this, which states:
"The survey took in burgers from around the world, including many of the best from the US, looking at issues like value for money, consistency (Google and critic reviews), innovation, atmosphere, location and accessibility. [...] The overall winner was Royal Stacks in Melbourne, followed by Midcity Smashedburger in Portland, Oregon..."
I don't think we should state that the chain serves "the best burgers in the world" when there is little consensus from non-American sources. TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 23:29, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
Ok, I'll just remove the "world" claim. Not bothered! Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:52, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
@TrademarkedTWOrantula: Thanks for reviewing. Are you interested in being a co-nominator for my good article nomination? Lemme know either way, once you're comfortable with the status of the article. ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:57, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
