Requested move 14 February 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved. However, there is a consensus against moving the Greater Vancouver article. You can start a new RM at that article's talk page if you want. In the meantime, Metro Vancouver will continue to redirect to this article. Jenks24 (talk) 08:45, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
Metro Vancouver → Metro Vancouver Regional District – As of 30 January 2017, the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) name was changed to Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD). Prior to this change, the name of the government body within the GVRD was called Metro Vancouver. Since the name of the government body did not reflect that of the regional district, the article title lacked Regional District from the name. This is no longer the case. Then there is the Greater Vancouver article. It was discussed that there should be two articles for this metropolitan area; one for the political entity and another for the geographical area. If this article is moved to Metro Vancouver Regional District; it would be best to move Greater Vancouver → Metro Vancouver. It's redundant to have two names for one metropolitan area, not to mention confusing. Northwest (talk) 14:17, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
- Support move to Metro Vancouver Regional District, oppose moving Greater Vancouver. Make it clear one refers to the administrative entity while one refers to the geographic area. TonyBallioni (talk) 15:52, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
- Upon familiarizing with the article's subject today I support moving Metro Vancouver → Metro Vancouver Regional District. I oppose moving Greater Vancouver → Metro Vancouver as it should be a separate discussion in and of itself only if and when this requested move is successful. Until them I'm not in a position to support that, and my initial gut feel is that Metro Vancouver may need to become a dab page pointing to Metro Vancouver Regional District, Greater Vancouver and possibly other articles that I'm not yet familiar with. Port Coquitlam link
[edit]The map with the links to the websites of the constituent members is missing one for the City of Port Coquitlam. I'm not savvy enough to know how to add it.. DrivenJohnnie (talk) 15:25, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
