Precedence Questions

[edit]

The opening paragraph states that Line 1 is the "second oldest underground railway in Europe". However it is the third oldest "underground railway", the Tunel line in Istanbul was built in 1875. I stated that however my edit was reverted. (Central Data Bank (talk))

Hi Central Data Bank, I have reverted your edit, since it contradicted the source which was cited in the article, i.e., this one [1]. Do you have sources which state that the Line 1 of Budapest Metro is only the third oldest underground? Cheers, KœrteFa {ταλκ} 15:36, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, the Istanbul Tunel was opened in 1875. This is the official date and can be found in all books, government and private internet sites as well as the wiki article. Therefore, the Istanbul tunel is the second oldest underground railway in the world, wouldn't you agree? Cheers (Central Data Bank (talk))
The Istanbul Tunnel is more like a steep elevator with large cars on rails, not a railway. Similar to the Babbacombe Cliff Railway. It is no network for sure. 2A01:4B00:881D:3700:B992:FE0:E14B:41B6 (talk) 17:18, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
