That first sentence is a terrible run-on, with six subjects, three parenthetical statements, and no punctuation. Any suggestions on how to make it more clear?

Nonlinear assumed form

The section about choice of test functions for Galerkin method mentions nonlinear assumed form.

  • The Galerkin method, which uses the basis functions themselves as test functions or in the more general case of a nonlinear assumed form (where the nonlinearity is in the degrees of freedom) of the solution the Galerkin method uses the test functions:

Can anyone add any reference for that? I would really like to find more about that.

List of types of WRM

I think that the list is incomplete and that it can be organized in a more logical order (the use of the methods is something external to its mathematical structure). First, the missing item in the list is the domain colocation method in which the weighing functions are indicator functions of a finite number of subdomains (just as in the pseudospectral method). Second: I propose that the classification must be: 1) colocation methods; 1.1) point colocation or pseudospectral; 1.2) domain colocation or finite volume; 3) Galerkin method; 4) Least squares method and 5) Moments method. I need to mention that finite volume methods are frequently used in the computational fluid dynamics field. In fact, Galerkin methods are more suited to the Lagrangian view point of continuum mechanics, whereas finite volume methods are more easly applied in the Eulerian view point.
