[edit]It's gone now (and was probably not very encyclopedic), but I just wanted to memorialize this phrasing, as it made me very happy at the time:
Mercury Rev are often compared to The Flaming Lips, and in fact have close ties: Donahue was himself a Flaming Lip for two records before forming Mercury Rev.

Fair use rationale for Image:Mercury Rev-Deserter's Songs (album cover).jpg
[edit]Image:Mercury Rev-Deserter's Songs (album cover).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Mary Gavazzi Fridmann
[edit]I had edited this article to state that Mary Gavazzi Fridmann was the vocalist for most of the songs on All is Dream. I based that on her name being the only female name listed on the album cover as a vocalist, along with the fact that most of the songs on the album have a female lead vocalist.
By the next day someone had changed my edit to say that she did most of the BACKUP vocals [my emphasis]. Maybe this person knows something I don't. My only source of info is the album cover.
If it is true that she did only the backup vocals, then it's imperative that the vocalist be credited here, especially since she is not credited on the album cover.
Who is this mystery woman?????
What I do know is that most of the vocals are done by a female. If it's not Ms. Fridman, then who? Why was she not mentioned on the album cover? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lesiz (talk • contribs) 04:11, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Why do you think that most of the vocals are done by a woman? It sounds like Jonathan to me, same as on Deserters' Songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.206.93.190 (talk) 13:44, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
This is ridiculous - the vocals are clearly a male falsetto, which would be Jonathan Donahue. 219.89.2.59 05:23, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
