WikiSOO Project

[edit]

I am planning on aggressively working on this article as my final project for the WikiSOO course, a School of Open course on editing Wikipedia articles. Though it has a solid foundation, the Maximum Fun article is out of date, needs more sources, and should probably be broken into a series of other articles and lists (the list of past guests, for instance, are great but should probably be separate list articles.) Any comments, advice, or criticism is welcome: this is my first major editing project! Acrolith (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:58, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Acrolith, glad to see you've chosen an article for your project! Looking forward to seeing where you go with this. -Pete (talk) 22:26, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Judge and Jury

[edit]

In the sentence:

Hodgman serves as judge and jury, hearing cases brought by listeners on topics ranging from which kind of soap goes in the dispenser on the sink to whether a high schooler is responsible for the theft of a life-sized Ernie doll that he had previously stolen.

It may be a bit nitpicky, but I'm not sure that Hodgman is actually serving any role as jury, as the format is not really supposed to be emulating a situation where a jury trial would be appropriate. No similar wording is found on the pages for Judge Joe Brown, Judge Judy or The People's Court, which are more in the vein of Judge John Hodgman. I would recommend removing the "and jury" part, as it is not accurate.--0x0077BE (talk) 21:39, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Shows

[edit]

I'm not sure where to source outside wikipedia but the page for Song Exploder says it started on MaxFun (I vaguely recall hearing it said during an episode when they went independent/joined Radiotopia in a back listen?) but I don't see it on the list of shows here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.6.143.143 (talk) 19:12, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Further reading

[edit]

Would it be considered WP:PROMO or WP:BOOKSPAM to include books related to the Maximum Fun network in the Further Reading? For instance, would any of the following be okay: Has a Podcast (Except You), Sawbones Book, There Be Gerblins, on the Rockport Limited!, to the Metal. Split?

[edit]

I think it could be cleaner to have a List of Maximum Fun shows (or List of Maximum Fun podcasts?). It would be well suited to a table format where we could list hosts, start and end dates, etc. It would certainly make for a cleaner table of contents on this page, though there are other ways we could accomplish that.

It would leave this page much shorter. Maybe it could strike a balance between a just-the-facts approach for the list and more prose content where appropriate. Most of the shows don't need space for so much prose. I may give this a try, hopefully soonish. --BDD (talk) 16:07, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
