Manfred von Richthofen (general) → Karl Ernst Manfred von Richthofen – Manfred von Richthofen is the name of (1) Karl Ernst Manfred von Richthofen (1855-1939), German general (currently at: Manfred von Richthofen (general)); (2) Manfred Albrecht von Richthofen (1892-1918), German military aviator, great nephew of (1) (currently at: Manfred von Richthofen); (3) Manfred von Richthofen (1934-2014), German athlete and sports administrator, nephew of (2) (Manfred von Richthofen gestorben, sportschau.de, May 2, 2014);. The only one bearing exactly the name 'Manfred von Richthofen' (3) is not mentioned. So 'Manfred von Richthofen' should be made a disambiguation page, and the two existing articles on military people moved to their full names. Seelefant (talk) 15:34, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose – The Red Baron Manfred von Richthofen is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Hamish59 (talk) 15:58, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose Actually, I think Hamish59 may have misunderstood the issues here. However, according to Wikipedia naming conventions, as a general rule we should disambiguate people by posts or jobs they held, not by middle names or the like which have not been widely used. PatGallacher (talk) 01:37, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- The Red Baron is primary topic for "Manfred von Richthofen." So his article should remain at that lemma; It should definitely not be "made a disambiguation page." I not sure I understand the rest of the proposal. Put the haggis on the fire (talk) 01:58, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- Comment is there actually an article on English Wikipedia for the athlete? Why don't you start by creating a set-index for the Manfreds Richthofen? Manfred Richthofen (list), and see how many (von or not, Freiherr or not) there are. -- 65.94.171.206 (talk) 08:40, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose there is one Manfred von Richthofen, by a country mile. The rest are dabs. Peacemaker67 (send... over) 12:16, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose. The general is not commonly known by his full name and the air ace is the primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:04, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
