Name

[edit]

I'd like to talk about changing language name practices. There is a growing tradition to stop referring to language as Manangba (or Manangbhot), and refer rather as Manange, Manangke, Manangkye or Nyeshangte. A look at Corpora shows that speakers self-refer as one of these, and never as Manangba or bhot. Unless anyone has really strong concerns, I'll make the changes accordingly in the language description of this language. Wikipedia is not in the business of supporting changing names of languages (or anything else), only to document. Generally, the most common name is used, with additionally WP:naming conventions (languages) as a guideline.--JorisvS (talk) 20:18, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
