[edit]Malon is a short term for Malaysian, therefore I delete all malons --Rizman (talk) 09:49, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Disagreement
[edit]I disagree that Malaysian is used to solely describe the ethnic Malays because Malaysian basically refer to those who have Malaysian citizenship of any race - e.g. Malaysian Chinese and Malaysian Indians. It's like saying your Australian or American. The Malays do not only inhabit Malaysia but also Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, southern Thailand and wherever they exist in this world. So, you'd only make it confusing for others to distinguish ethnic Malays and Malaysian citizens. So I've removed the part where it refers to Malay people on this article. --Fantastic4boy 23:40, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, every legal citizens of Malaysia are called Malaysian. Ryan_Aldren 08:31, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: not moved. The nominator's rationale has been pretty thoroughly rebutted. Jenks24 (talk) 09:40, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Malaysians → Malaysian people – To differentiate with Malaysian language, Malaysian cuisine, Malaysian name and so on Alexander Iskandar (talk) 17:22, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose - Malaysians is already differentiated by being in plural form, which, in my view, doesn't refer to the language, cuisine, name, and so on. Additionally, the page is at Malaysians per WP:NCET, as it is a legitimate plural demonym. -Niceguyedc Go Huskies! 11:21, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- The differentiation is already done properly at Malaysian. Who is going to look up language, cuisine or names at "Malaysians"? It doesn't seem likely. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 17:56, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
