Reception section and other info.
[edit]The next obvious thing to do to this article is to add a critical reception section, surveying what the critics thought of the Off-Broadway production. Also, the closing date and number of performances should be stated. I also understand that a recording was issued, which should be mentioned. -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:14, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Ssilvers: Thanks for the help! Could you possibly point me in the direction of a solid example of a critical reception section, or if there are any structured guidelines/suggestions? I've assembled the major reviews but I don't know how to go about putting together a readable synthesis. ElfLady64 (talk) 21:08, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- Sure. One example would be Allegiance (musical). In general, I write them more or less as follows: First, give a one-sentence summary of the reviews to characterize them as "mostly positive", "mixed" or "mostly negative, although they generally praised x's direction and some of the performances". Then give a paragraph describing the positive reviews and a paragraph describing the negative reviews, focusing mostly on the show itself, but also briefly mentioning the performances, direction, etc. of the original (in this case, off-Broadway) production. You could also note reviews of the London production. I would usually avoid reviews of the regional tryout, as it doesn't represent the settled state of the piece. You can give some quotes, but vary it to also simply describe some of the reviews, so that the section is not simply a list of quotes. See WP:QUOTEFARM. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:19, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- BTW, there are general guidelines for musicals articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Musical Theatre/Article Structure. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:21, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
Question
[edit]If there is no dialogue or plot, why is it a revue rather than a concert? -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:19, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
