Mahasthamaprapa: He or she?
[edit]I'm sorry, but referring to Mahasthamaprapta as "them" is just totally anachronistic and culturally inappropriate. Would you refer to Guanyin as "they?" G41rn8 (talk) 00:24, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
'Abdu'l-Baha Reference
[edit]I removed my own addition due to lack of notability (as far as I can tell), despite a published reference. I'm including it here, however, for the curious:
Mahasthamaprapta can be translated as "Great Strength", "Strong Limb", "Mighty Branch", or a permutation of these. This has led to a suggestion that Mahasthamaprapta could be synonymous with `Abdu'l-Bahá of the Bahá'í tradition.[1]

Correspondence to the Moon
[edit]The moon is only mentioned twice in the Contemplation Sutra, never in reference to Mahasthamaprapta. If such a correspondence does exist it must be iconographic, non-canonical, or in another scripture. If a source verifying the alleged correspondences cannot be found, the assertion should be deleted from the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asiaj (talk • contribs) 18:46, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Restructuring page to separate and better organize references to different Buddhist sects/schools.
[edit]I notice this entry is a bit loose with referencing how Mahasthamaprapta is regarded by different schools of Buddhism. For example, the very first sentence introduces the Bodhisattva in context of the Pure Land School. I suggest editing the page to introduce Mahasthamaprapta generally, and then use sub-topics to explain how he is referenced (1) in different sutras, (2) in different countries & (3) in different schools. One expects some cross-referencing in the sub-topics, of course. Lotuslaw (talk) 17:07, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
