English name?
[edit]Wouldn't an English name be preferrable here as used at here, here, and here? At least for the title, anyway.翔太 「Shouta:talk」 22:13, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Geographical accidents?
[edit]Not sure what's meant by this. Geographical... accidents... 74.134.236.69 01:31, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
"accidentes" in spanish can be something like features or variations. I've changed it to say features.--70.189.74.169 20:30, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
POV
[edit]What is this? Propaganda from the Chilean government or something? The area in question (in Antarctica)conflicts with British and Argentine claims, yet there is no mention of this. Sort it out.
Requested move(s)
[edit]Three different forms of the name of this region are used between this article and the various categories. I suggest discussion be centralised here, and any required move of this article done in line with that. Alai (talk) 22:52, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Categories renamed, so if there are no objections, I'll move the article in line with that outcome. Alai (talk) 06:07, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Antartica
[edit]Is Eduardo Barros still the governor of the Antartica Chilena province? I really don't know much about it, but the last I heard from a guy who knows Barros, it seemed unlikely that he'd be governor much longer; this was a couple years ago. Cadwaladr (talk) 06:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Move to "Magallanes Region, Chile"
[edit]The official name of the region includes the Chilean antartic claim and must be included in the Wikipedia name. --Best regards, Keysanger (what?) 09:38, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena Region → Magallanes Region – Shorter form of the name, excluding from the title unrecognized claims in Antarctica, as in Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina. Pristino (talk) 11:33, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- Support. However, I would oppose the above request to move it to "Magallanes Region, Chile" as the Chilean claim is unrecognized. ONR (talk) 12:07, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- Can you clarify if your support is for moving the article to Magallanes Region or to Magallanes Region, Chile? I am for the former. Pristino (talk) 12:36, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- I support "Magallanes Region", but oppose "Magallanes Region, Chile". ONR (talk) 14:22, 10 March 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Old Naval Rooftops (talk • contribs)
- Ok, me too. Though "Magallanes Region, Chile" wouldn't be incorrect, as the region's South American portion is indisputably part of Chile. It's just unnecessary in this case, as there is only one "Magallanes Region", thus no need for a disambiguation article. Pristino (talk) 15:51, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- I support "Magallanes Region", but oppose "Magallanes Region, Chile". ONR (talk) 14:22, 10 March 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Old Naval Rooftops (talk • contribs)

- Support. I support "Magallanes Region" as per request. Pristino (talk) 12:36, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- Support: whether territorial claims are recognized or unrecognized is not relevant to naming policy, but Magallanes Region as a common short forms is to be preferred above a official long form that is less common. Therefore I support "Magallanes Region" (but oppose "Magallanes Region, Chile"). Dentren | Talk 15:36, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- Support - "Magallanes Region" per OP and others. InsertCleverPhraseHere 05:03, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
