POV tag at Maclay School
[edit]Hello, Jbklego. I see that you have just placed a POV tag on the Maclay School article. On re-reading the article (I'm the primary author) I'm really unable to spot the problems you may have noticed. I'll be happy to try to take care of them, but you will need to let me know what they are. Thanks very much. Tim Ross (talk) 20:52, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, but since I have had no response with respect to your POV tag, Jbklego, either here or on your talk page, I am now deleting the tag. Tim Ross (talk) 20:44, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Richard Saunders
[edit]I just noticed that Toridog has added a paragraph to the Maclay article, providing some information about the Richard Saunders case. As far as I know, it is accurate, but my immediate instinct is to delete it as inappropriate to an article about the school. After all, most schools have bad apples occur from time to time, even very bad ones, among their students or faculty, and such instances are not, to my knowledge, included in their articles. This seems to be the only editing that Toridog has done, and he has no user page, so I am asking for input and opinion here, hoping to obtain that user's thoughts, along with those of any other users interested in the school. Academics vs. Sports
[edit]I seem to be the only user of the Maclay talk page, but let me try once more to generate some discussion.
Maclay, by most measures, is a very fine college prep school, with very good scholastic performances by many of its students. It is, also, a decent sports school, given its size, and does reasonably well in various athletic contests. For some reason, though, the article is becoming heavily oriented towards the athletic side of things. It would, I think, be a good idea to de-emphasize the current sports coverage, and work on adding to the information on scholastic achievements. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? (This was added by User:Tim Ross on 16 Nov 2009. Sorry I forgot to sign it. Tim Ross (talk) 11:05, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- The large amount of information about Maclay sports seems to be mostly unreferenced. Listings of the sports offered, and similar information is, I think, covered by some of the general references given in the "Sources" section, but not the numerous details now included under "Sports". I've added a "needs references" tag to the section. Tim Ross (talk) 11:13, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
The "Needs References" tag has been on this article's "Sports" section for over a year with no improvement. There's still only a generic reference to the Florida High School Athletic Association. I have now deleted much of the article's "Sports" section, but have left the listing of sports at the school, as well as the state championships under the assumption that this remaining material can be found somewhere in the referenced Florida High School Athletic Association listings.
