A fact from Machico (singer) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 18 April 2017 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that voice actress and singer Machico made a cameo as herself in the anime television series Seiyu's Life!?

Oppose At least 22,000 people will be familiar with the city, the third largest municipality on its island. I doubt that many have ever heard of this obscure singer with her four Top 45 "hits"! While I accept she probably scrapes by on WP:GNG it's dubious whether she currently meets the criteria for N:MUSIC. So the long-term significance aspect of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC is 100% with the settlement and all its history etc. Perhaps if someone like Ariana Grande or Katy Perry starts calling themselves Machico there might be a debate to be had. But this micro-celebrity (with all due respect)? No way. Bring back Daz Sampson (talk) 10:30, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Clearly you have a very generous definition of 'hit'! I think there is a question of scale here: this Portuguese city and its many thousands of inhabitants will be there long after Ms Saitō's modest exploits in the lower reaches of Japan's pop music charts. Frankly, I would be WP:ASTONISHed to find myself at the article of a very minor anime personality if I typed the name of a European city into the search bar. Very strong oppose editors from anime projects please check GBooks before initiating RMs like This, and note the Japanese cartoon backing singer doesn't come up in Google image search where as per Gbooks "Machico is a small resort, with a sandy beach used by locals as well as holidaymakers plus a large stony section with boards to lay on..." not a Japanese voice actress Machiko. Dear Miraclepine, Or "Mira" your Katakana name. Yes there is a whole load of junk out there on vanilla Google, yes in among all that ephemeral passing rubbish the anime voiceover counts more than the town. But this is an encyclopedia. Which is why we refer to books. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:15, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure about this? My Google search throws up 2 pages of holiday adverts before it even mentions the no-mark singer. I am in the UK where holidays to Madeira are very popular, especially with older people and especially at this time of year. Probably because it's nice and warm but not oppressively so. Maybe your Google search is pushing anime stuff at you because you have Googled loads of it before? Remember that for the vast majority of readers that won't be the case.
