Mădălina Diana Ghenea → Madalina Ghenea – The current title is the Romanian spelling of her name. She is based in Italy and is credited and referred to by the simplified spelling Madalina Diana Ghenea or simply Madalina Ghenea, similar to how Céline Dion is referred to as simply Celine Dion. Linguist 111talk 14:18, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose - the current title is the spelling of her name, just as it is the spelling of the name for Mădălina Cioveie, Mădălina Gojnea and Mădălina Manole. And simply being "based in Italy" does not magically make the name change. Iosif Constantin Drăgan was "based in Italy" for decades, but his name did not change. Neither did the names of Romanians "based in France" for decades, such as Constantin Brâncuși, Henri Coandă, Radu Mihăileanu or Elena Văcărescu. Heck, we don't even know if Ghenea is an Italian citizen: a year ago, she was thinking of abandoning Romanian citizenship, but no new news has emerged on that front.
- Now, if you wish to impose this change, you will have to demonstrate that it meets the WP:COMMONNAME standard, while also keeping in mind that we use diacritics, without too much reservation, and that we do so in the interests of accuracy, even when more careless sites choose to forgo them. - Biruitorul Talk 15:22, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose - per statements by User:Biruitorul. Also, defer to WP:DIACRITICS, as we tend to use birth names with diacritics for accuracy. ExRat (talk) 22:30, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- “Simply” is when you use a mononym.
- These are just the same names, but without the accents. Rosiedanugbtugn (talk) 14:28, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
