Wow...this mushroom is cool looking. In edibility, is it no longer edible with age because the brown spines are just too hard or unpleasent to be eaten as opposed to when they're white/young/soft; or does aging make them like 'biochemically' (for my lack of a better term) indigestible/unpalatable/inedible etc.? Maybe some fleshing out of why that may be. Also, next to the image of the white young specimen, how about an image of another mature brown one right next to it. A side-by-side or above-below comparison would look interesting. I sort of like Image:Lycoperdon echinatum 02.jpg, but you may have a better choice in mind. Go with yours, absolutely...unless it's not a good idea to place images that close together. Your call.-- Rcej (talk) 07:01, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have fleshed out the edibility per request, and did a double image stack with young and old specimens, moving the images down somewhat to avoid squishing in text between images and taxobox & mmbox. Thanks for pointing out that picture, I had missed it before somehow (usually I find interesting images on Mushroom Observer and go from there). Sasata (talk)
Very nice. I wasn't aware of the 'double image stack' template... I'm going to get plenty of use out of that new discovery. heh. Onward; the lead looks completely full, but it seems like it isn't. I don't see anything lacking enough to define what it needs, though. Maybe an anti-microbial mention. Next, in the description section, clarify the context of biological substrate in that particular sentence. I felt a little lost there, just usure of the substrate that was being referred to.-- Rcej (talk) 01:11, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Have now mentioned antibacterial properties in lead, and piped substrate link to "growing surface". Check out Template:Image stack, Template:double image and Template:triple image for further variations on the handy image stacking templates. Sasata (talk) 02:10, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good job... and thx for the tip. Another pass is complete.-- Rcej (talk) 07:29, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Much obliged! Sasata (talk) 07:54, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
