Bad redirect
[edit]The topic is a topic in itself. The Nakshatra are just the Hindu astrological lunar mansions. http://www.mazzaroth.com/Introduction/ManazilDefined.htm Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 20:00, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- I made the redirect into an article. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 08:57, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Merge
[edit]Removing merge tags. This should certainly not be a redirect to the Hindu idea. It could be a redirect to the Chinese page (which is both the most famous of these systems and the one that inspired this term), but there's probably enough similarity among these systems to keep this here and just have subsections linking to pages on the separate systems (unless the scholarship prefers a different name for the non-Chinese systems).
We need two good subsections linking and glossing the Hindu and Chinese systems, though. Right now there's some UNDUE attention being given to the Arab version. — LlywelynII 07:19, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Total rewrite needed
[edit]I don't know if I have the time to fix this, but the article bears no resemblance at all to the astrological tradition of the mansions, which are divisions of the Lunar sidereal *month*, and for which we have remnants of several strains of esoteric tradition (the most complete being the material in Picatrix).Freeman (talk) 20:55, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Looking at an English translation of Picatrix, I can't find an unequivocal statement about whether the mansions divide up a month, or a year. But I definitely agree the article needs major work. I do hope you (or someone else) has a chance to work on it (I'm not sure my confused understanding of the subject is up to it). Lusanaherandraton (talk) 03:17, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
"Arabic manzils"?
[edit]I have virtually no knowledge of astrology, but I suspect this phrase is a mistake: "Various cultures have used sets of lunar mansions astrologically, for example [...] the Arabic manzils (manazil al-qamar)" etc. Arabic typically refers to the language, while Arab refers to the pan-ethnic group of people and the culture or cultures associated with those people. Unless "manzils" is an Arabic language translation of a non-Arab astrological tradition, the sentence probably needs to be rewritten. Cnilep (talk) 01:46, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Japanese Moon Stations
