Fair use rationale for Image:LuigiAlva1.jpg
[edit]Image:LuigiAlva1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

NPOV concerns
[edit]The bulk of this article deals in unsourced, aesthetic judgments which violate Wikipedia's NPOV policies. From the article on NPOV:
"Wikipedia articles about art and other creative topics (e.g., musicians, actors, books, etc.) have a tendency to become effusive. This is out of place in an encyclopedia. Aesthetic opinions are diverse and subjective—we might not all agree about who the world's greatest soprano is. However, it is appropriate to note how an artist or a work has been received by prominent experts and the general public. For instance, the article on Shakespeare should note that he is widely considered to be one of the greatest authors in the English language. Articles should provide an overview of the common interpretations of a creative work, preferably with citations to notable individuals holding that interpretation. Verifiable public and scholarly critiques provide useful context for works of art."
If specific statements cannot be attributed to credible sources, they should be removed. This would leave next to nothing intact, so a complete re-write may be required.

- "The bulk of this article"? I concede that three or four sentences are rather gushing, but even some of those can probably be sourced. The bulk of this article uncontroversially enumerates his work. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 05:42, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with Michael. In any case, the point is now moot, as I have referenced this article to within an inch of its life, including new quotes/commentary which are referenced to an inline citation, from a noted authority. They have replaced the previous "objectionable" commentary, although as Michael says, virtually all of it could have been referenced with a bit of work. He was a very distinguished and widely admired singer. The current article doesn't really do him justice, and could be usefully expanded. At La Scala, he created several roles in 20th century operas and performed in some real rarities, none of which are mentioned in the article. There is also a considerable amount of material on him in Peruvian newspapers, but the El Comercio server is currently down. Voceditenore (talk) 11:09, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
