Talkbox

[edit]

What is Richie Sambora saying through the talkbox/vocoder in this song? I know on the original recording it sounds like "Whoa whoa whoa..." but I heard a live version and it sounded like "Jon Bon Jovi." --D-Day Somebody talk to me. Please somebody! Anybody! 13:36, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fear

[edit]

I don't know who keeps adding "Fear" under references in other songs - a similarity in one line is not a reference! You may as well say that "Always" ("If you told me to cry for you I could / If you told me to die for you I would") is referencing the song "I'd die for you" ("I'd die for you / I'd cry for you"). Bon Jovi often use some common cliches in their work, but it doesn't mean they are referencing previous songs.

Cover Versions

[edit]

If Jordin Sparks' version on American Idol is mentioned, isn't it only fair to mention Lukas Rossi's reworked version on Rockstar: Supernova? Also what about the version they did on Glee? Same goes for It's My Life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.226.81.131 (talk) 20:36, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Trickle Down" vs "anti-union"

[edit]

I removed the conclusion that being at a gore convention and statements of the author implying he disagrees with Reagan's economic policies is any determination of whether the song or its author are anti-union or not. These are all orthogonal. The song could be both anti-"Trickle Down" and anti-union and the author could be a gore supporter. The facts given do not support the removed conclusion Reboot 00:38, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this classified as Heavy Metal?- anonymous —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.235.129 (talk) 17:13, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics

[edit]

Is there a reference for the claim the the song is about Desmond Child? Jon has stated during concerts and probably interviews that Tommy and Gina were real, and names were changed to protect the innocent. While it may just be a romanticism, it seems an odd thing to sauy if it was truly just about Child. Thedarxide (talk) 16:50, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No Mention of the Rock Band games?

[edit]

This song can be found on the Rock Band series of games. Why is there no mention of this in the Article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.198.79.240 (talk) 16:17, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Backing vocals

[edit]

Unfortuntaly not good enough to include in the main article, but Rick Beato's recent video about this got a comment from Joani Bye stating that she was one of the background singers:

Great analysis of this tune, Rick! Towards the end you wonder how many background singers there were, and I can answer that question for you, being one of them. In 1985 many big bands came through Vancouver to record at Little Mountain Sound with Bruce Fairbairn, and Nancy Nash and I (joani Bye) were often called for backgrounds. In this case Bruce called us in to sing on a track for a band from New Jersey named Bon Jovi. We, along with Jon and Bruce, did all those screaming bgs and man, was it fun!! Bruce called when the record was released to apologize for the fact that they had neglected to credit us on the album. I didn't think it was a big deal, having never heard of them before we did the session. Of course I had no idea that song would become so huge and so iconic!! And unfortunately, the oversight was never rectified, even on wikipedia. On the upside, we still do receive royalties. And I'm famous among my 29-year-old daughter's friends, who all scream along with us when the song plays in a bar. A great song indeed!!

So it was her, Nancy Nash and Bruce Fairbairn. Jalwikip (talk) 11:30, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

BPI 4xPlatinun

[edit]

What is going on?? On 23 February 2024 the BPI announced that Livin On A Prayer has been certified FOUR times Platinum in the UK. I updated the certification. Then, someone reverted the edit without explanation. A simple click on the BPI link would have verified the recertification. I tried correcting it, but it's now "pending review"? There is still no reason for my original edit to have been reverted. And it's all properly sourced. 197.87.143.177 (talk) 19:53, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
