Last Train

"Oliver Cromwell", shown in a photo from the above link, did not operate from Liverpool Exchange - and indeed not from Lime Street, on the last BR steam Train (11 August 1968) - it took over the train at Manchester Victoria. RuthAS (talk) 22:53, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Acronyms

[edit]

Redrose64, you changed proper names of companies to acronyms stating it was to stop repetition. There is no repetition in the article. Introducing acronyms confuses the lay reader. Introducing acronyms is not preventing repetition. These rail article are not for rail buffs, which all these acronyms the buffs are familiar with. Good writing does not have acronyms unless it is an accepted acronym like AEG, ICI, etc.188.223.113.80 (talk) 10:17, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My edits were within MOS:ACRO: by putting the acronym in parenthesis following the full term, this defines the acronym; thereafter the acronym may be used in replacement for the full term without needing to be redefined. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:41, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
