Will do this in the next few days, probably tomorrow. Please nudge if I haven't done anything in a week. IceWelder [] 17:07, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox
Lead
  • As a compound noun, "action-platform" should be "action–platform".
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 22:46, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "in 1992 in Japan on June 26, in North America in November, and in Europe on March 13, 1993" – This reads rather poorly. Per MOS:VG/FIRSTSENTENCE, the year of release should be in the first sentence. I recommend leaving the exact dates for the body.
Done -- I changed the first sentence more or less... Roberth Martinez (talk) 22:46, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "who worked as a designer" → "who had worked as a designer" since this happened before the development of the game. Ditto for the next sentence.
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 22:46, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "critics praised its audiovisual department" – This suggests they praised the team instead of the work, please rephrase.
Done -- I rephrased the sentence more or less...
  • "It is considered one of the best NES games" – The "NES" shorthand should have been introduced earlier.
Done -- I introduced the "NES" shorthand at the first sentence now. Roberth Martinez (talk) 22:46, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Gameplay
  • "On the eve of emperor Hans XIV's birthday" – This indicates a time skip. Please clarify.
  • "but was no match for the demon king's powerful subordinates" – Please reduce flowery language.
  • "the hero who holds the four bells" – What four bells?
  • "four warriors who own the bells" – So what about the aforementioned hero?
Done -- Made some alterations to the plot paragraph
  • You're sometimes using four, even five sources at one point where it doesn't seem necessary. Please try to reduce these while keeping claims verifiable.
 Done --Roberth Martinez (talk) 02:44, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "thirteen levels with branching paths and a boss encounter" – One boss encounter per level or per stage?
 Done --Roberth Martinez (talk) 02:44, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "and the true ending is unlocked" – Does the Easy mode have a false ending? Please clarify.
Basically, the true boss is not summoned when playing on the easiest difficulty. Roberth Martinez (talk) 02:44, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Development and release
  • "(also known as Sur Dé Wave)" – What does this mean, especially in this context? The developer's article indicates that this was a publishing subsidiary, so it wouldn't have been involved with this game.
Done -- Remove the line in question. Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:31, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "who worked" → "who had worked" again in both instances.
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:31, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "worked on both Cocoron and Nostalgia 1907" – 'both' seems redundant here.
 Done -- Word removed. Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:31, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Repeating the names here feels unnecessary since they do not come up again. I would only keep this, for example, if there was something on why the game was renamed.
  • "It was later followed by" – 'later' seems reudundant here.
 Done -- Word removed. Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:34, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Due to poor marketing, coupled with its late release and low sales" – In what respect was the release 'late'? Also, the low sales would appear to be a result of the two factors, not a third factor.
I changed the sentence. Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:34, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Try to avoid false titles, so "In 2022, Limited Run Games CEO Josh Fairhurst stated" → "In 2022, Limited Run Games's CEO, Josh Fairhurst, stated".
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:34, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Reception
  • "Little Samson received generally favorable reviews." – This uses a few hand-picked reviews to verify, which may count as original research. There should either be a source that states this verbatim, or the statement should be removed.
 Done -- Removed. Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:30, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:30, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "a score of 21.2 out of 30 score" → "a score of 21.2/30".
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:27, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is there any additional info about this poll, such as target demographic or sample size?
This was more or less a public poll conducted by readers of Family Computer Magazine (or Famimaga for short), indicating how the game was received by said readers compared to other Famicom releases. I don't have access to the book unfortunately but it's used frequently in the Japanese side of Wikipedia for other Famicom releases (P.S.: I i had to guess, it features a ranking of Famicom titles similar to the rankings featured in Beep Mega Drive magazine and the Japanese Sega Saturn magazine). Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:53, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "audiovisual department" – Per above.
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:39, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Club Nintendo magazine" → "Club Nintendo".
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:30, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "of the mouse K.O." – K.O. has already been introduced, so this doesn't need to be repeated here.
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:31, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Retrospective coverage
  • "Retrospective commentary for Little Samson has been equally favorable," – As above.
Done -- I reprahsed the sentence more or less. Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:01, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Some of these statements appear to be veiled quotes, often with peacock words. Either rephrase or use direct quotes.
Done -- I made some changes to this section. Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:18, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "on the NES Mini" – Since the article is written in American English, this should use the American name of the product, "NES Classic Edition".
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:04, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
References
  • What makes Bonus Stage Magazine a reliable source?
Done -- I initially used it for the retrospective commentary section at the reception. However, as i found more material for said section, i then moved it to the gameplay section. I used it on another article to add additional retrospective commentary, as its mainly focused on retro gaming but i can remove it if you want. Roberth Martinez (talk) 02:30, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think removing it is the best option since it appears to be a self-published fanzine written by one person. IceWelder [] 08:39, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Done -- Removed. Roberth Martinez (talk) 15:03, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • What makes Original Video Game Art a reliable source?
I used it to identify who did the western artwork for the game. I was hesitant at first to use this source (https://vgdensetsu.net/2_GregWinters.html) because i didn't know how it would be viewed during the reviewing process. Then, i remembered that the VGDensetsu website was actually credited in SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, specifically the "Museum Research Special Thanks" section (https://www.mobygames.com/game/115293/snk-40th-anniversary-collection/credits/windows/?autoplatform=true). So, it does give some leg to be used here and replace OVGA with it. Roberth Martinez (talk) 23:48, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Non-English sources should have a |trans-title=.
  • Foreign sources in languages with non-Latin scripts should have a |script-title=, with |title= featuring the transliteration thereof.
I didn't fully get these two inquiries but i decided to include |trans-title= to any non-english and foreign sources. Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:58, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
|script-title= is used for citations not written in a language that uses the Latin alphabet (like Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Armenian, ...). For example, a Russian-language source I used for one of my articles has this code: |title=Rockstar San Diego – ot bezvestnosti k mirovoy slave |script-title=ru:Rockstar San Diego – от безвестности к мировой славе |language=ru |trans-title=Rockstar San Diego – From Obscurity to World Fame. But I guess this is mostly optional, so you can leave it out if you like. IceWelder [] 08:39, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I decided to still take your inquiry into account and keep it into the article but with |script-title= now added. Roberth Martinez (talk) 16:02, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:57, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Other
  • Eliminate duplicate links (script).
 Done -- Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:57, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@KGRAMR: Apologies for the delay. This concludes my initial review. Feel free to strike through or reply to individual comments as you work on them. Regards, IceWelder [] 17:26, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@IceWelder:Don't worry. You caught me in the middle of my dayjob actually! Once i get home, i'll go through your inquiries step by step. Roberth Martinez (talk) 17:35, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IceWelder:Done with the first pass! Let me know what else needs to be tackled. Roberth Martinez (talk) 02:45, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for now. I added two replies above. Once everything is done, I will have another good look. IceWelder [] 08:39, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IceWelder:Done with the brief pass. Let me know what else needs to be tackled. Roberth Martinez (talk) 16:02, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please check my |script-title= example again; it is used in addition to |title= where the source's name is not written in the Latin script. English, German, Spanish all use the Latin script and do not need the parameter; Japanese and Russian do. (See also Template:Cite web#Title.) At the moment, you have a lot of citation errors. IceWelder [] 16:45, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IceWelder:I didn't noticed it! Let me get to it... Roberth Martinez (talk) 17:31, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IceWelder:OK so, i decided to remove |script-title= and only use |trans-title= to translate the names of the magazine articles. Roberth Martinez (talk) 17:35, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I edited the article to reflect what I mean originally. In short:
  • For Japanese (and other non-Latin) sources: |title=[title romanization] |script-title=ja:[original title] |trans-title=[title translation]
  • For Spanish (and other foreign–Latin) sources: |title=[original title] |trans-title=[title translation]
Hope this helps! I'll have a good final read tomorrow. IceWelder [] 17:50, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Having read the article top-to-bottom once more, I think I'm happy with its current state.  Passed. Regards, IceWelder [] 19:31, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IceWelder:Thank you for taking the time to review this article! Roberth Martinez (talk) 00:36, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
