I have photographs of this derailment which can be used without restriction on Wikipedia, although I don't have the correct rights to upload to Wikipedia yet. The gallery is here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheSudburyLine (talkcontribs) 11:50, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge suggestion

[edit]

There is another article detailing this incident at this link: 2010 Sudbury train accident. I suggest that the information in the two articles is merged. Macintosher (talk) 16:20, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, just seen this, asked something similar on your talk page. Mjroots (talk) 20:11, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've proposed that the Sudbury article is merged into this one. Mjroots (talk) 09:54, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure there's that much to merge. The articles very nearly duplicate each other in most respects. We could integrate the sources from the second article, but I suspect most of the text won't be needed. Alzarian16 (talk) 09:58, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) This article is better developed and, by the looks of things, more up to date, so I would suggest someone be bold and merge any useful content from that article into this one and redirect it here. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:59, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looking further into this, I see four potentially useful references unique to that article ([1], [2], [3] and [4]), but almost without exception all the information given is already here. The stuff that isn't is the less useful bits, such as "Several large news corporations, including the BBC, reported on the incident in the first few hours after the event", which is unnecessary. Alzarian16 (talk) 15:38, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked at the four sources mentioned above. Nothing in there which is useable as several details now known to be incorrect. I've therefore boldly converted the Sudbury article into a redirect to this article. Mjroots (talk) 15:48, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm glad it appears we've sorted this one out anyway! Macintosher (talk) 15:57, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coords

[edit]

I've reverted the decimilization of the coords. The coords used are derived from the OS Grid reference, which I established from the relevant OS map via Geograph. The use of dms is acceptable on Wikipedia, and IMHO, looks better than decimal coords. Mjroots (talk) 06:20, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but if you use the decimal co-ordinates to find the spot on a Google map, you get the dot in the right place. That was my motivation. (The aesthetics of DMS versus decimals should only be a secondary concern.) --RFBailey (talk) 21:22, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
