Winter Release

[edit]

The latest issue of EDGE Magazine states that LBP2 will have a Winter release in the LittleBigPlanet 2 Feature of the June 2010 issue. Just a heads up. 86.169.41.83 (talk) 21:47, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

[edit]

I'm wondering what we should use to describe the game's genre. As they've explicitly said that LBP2's not just a platform game, I think it would be contradictory to only list "Platformer". I'm not suggesting we use their "Platform for games" tagline but we need something to convey that idea. Instead of trying to fit an explanation into the infobox it might be better to link to a section of the article which describes it in full. Any ideas? Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 08:09, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I say we list it as a Game Creation Software. It's a platform for games which is game creating, therefore, it should be Game Creation Software, (Sort of like RPG Maker)--RCChrisdude 02:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC) RCChrisdude (talkcontribs)
I've listed it as an open world God game. Not sure if you'd agree. Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 09:02, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should be listed as a platformer, but it gets much more complicated with the new (rumored) rts and racing engines included. game creation software doesn't really fit, because it would imply free reign over almost all functions, so as much as it is important, the level editor is an editor, not a creator. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.141.219.17 (talk) 13:31, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It should be listed as "puzzle platformer with cross-genre elements".--King-9 (talk) 02:36, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The general rule of thumb is, that if one single field doesn't cover it, chuck in a many as necessary. - X201 (talk) 08:16, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good point.--King-9 (talk) 03:31, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really think it makes much sense to fill the infobox with game genres. It won't be useful to the reader without the context of why the game covers all of these genres so to me, it makes more sense to keep it out of the infobox completely and make sure it's covered in the prose. Chimpanzee+ Us | Ta | Co 08:45, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
By "chuck in as many as necessary" I meant Platfomer for the game part and game creation for the create part. No need for RTS or Driving etc. Just the above. It was the fact that the discussion read like people were searching for a Grand Unified Theory of an entry that made me say it. - X201 (talk) 09:33, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Boxart

[edit]

NA boxart is here for article infobox: http://twitpic.com/1nqlnr 212.225.116.24 (talk) 23:54, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Additional

[edit]

In answering a batch of frequently asked questions about LBP 2 yesterday[1], the following was stated about the box art "Glad you noticed, but don’t get too attached to that piece of art – It’s something we put together from the artwork created for an exclusive EDGE Magazine cover article. And while we love it, its definitely NOT final box art". The last part is the interesting bit "its definitely NOT final box art". I think we should get rid of the box art that we're currently displaying and return to the only accurate image we have at the moment, the LBP2 logo. - X201 (talk) 08:55, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's ok to use temporary box art as long as it's "official". If it had come from Amazon or something I'd say get rid of it but as it's some kind of box art that's been made by Mm, I think it's ok to keep it. To be honest though, I don't feel strongly about it either way. Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 15:54, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Music sequencer

[edit]

Right, we need to add something about LBP 2's music sequencer but I don't know where to start. Maybe I'll try tomorrow after I've pieced by blown mind back together. If anyone else wants to take a shot, feel free. Chimpanzee - User | Talk | Contribs 00:04, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Heck!!! That is mind blowing! What are we supposed to say? That it can emit parts of levels as well as music? Ffgamera - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 00:23, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

18 January?

[edit]

On the beginning of the LittleBigPlanet 2 article, there is a mistake for "18 January, 2011". Can you fix that? 76.31.96.99 (talk) 02:41, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see, there's no mistake. The game is launching in North America on the 18th. There was a comma missing but the date is correct and explained properly. Chimpanzee+ Us | Ta | Co 12:33, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack

[edit]

Most of the time, it isn't appropriate to list a game's soundtrack in an article but there are a few exceptions where the soundtrack has been deemed notable due to extensive coverage or talk of the topic from reliable sources? I have a feeling LBP 2 might be one of these but I'm on the fence. Any opinions? Chimpanzee+ Us | Ta | Co 12:28, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The soundtrack is quite exceptional; I would really like a detailed section on it. I also think a section with the Cast Listings for the Story Voices would be helpful!

--Freaky Face Films (talk) 20:57, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just going to revive this discussion. I'm planning on adding a 'Music' section soon to cover the original soundtrack, notable licenced tracks and the music creation tools available to the users. If anyone knows of any notable sources which talk about the music (including any that may have nominated it for awards), please post a link below and I'll integrate it into what I'm writing. Ta. Collector's Edition

[edit]

Under the retail editions section, it says that 9 other costumes are available thru preorder for the American CE. But if you click the reference, it specifically says that all of the preorder bonus costumes are already packaged with the collector's edition.

Would edit it but don't have permission--72.71.105.16 (talk) 04:47, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done - Well-spotted. Thanks. Chimpanzee+ Us | Ta | Co 08:18, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Additional external link?

[edit]

Hi, this is my first edit on Wikipedia! :p Was just wondering if an additional external link could be added to the LittleBigPlanet Wiki, as the article is semi-protected and I'm not a confirmed user yet. Thanks! Holguin86 (talk) 16:52, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WP:LINKSTOAVOID says to avoid adding wikis to the External Links section. - X201 (talk) 09:07, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
LBPWiki is an official wiki endorsed by the game's developers - does that make a difference? Holguin86 (talk) 14:56, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
