Austrlia Citation

[edit]

All of the UFO researchers from Australia do not have any references, any ideas on how we can fix this or anyone willing to provide citation (I myself am not familiar with the Ufologist in australia, so I do not know where to look) ? (:O) -Nima Baghaei (talk) 16:39, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious as to why you removed them from a nation with which you are unfamiliar? Australia has some of the most noteworthy ufologists and researchers in that field in the world. I instantly recognised at least 6 of them when I looked at the list you removed. Why didn't you remove Canada? If it's of pressing importance then I'll find references for all those that I can (I live and research UFO's in Australia myself) - Whilst I agree that references are desirable nothing happens 'instantly' - people post things for others to 'build on', not subtract from unless it breaches a rule of some description? Non-citation

[edit]

I have removed a lot of noncited sources to a subpage (Talk:List of Ufologists/nocitation) as suggested on the paranormal talk page (Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Paranormal) until someone can provide citation for them (:O) -Nima Baghaei talk · cont · email 20:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Nima_Baghaei: in the list of ufologist there is no one related to Chile, country with a known UFO phenomenology. I tried to propose the citation of my name in that list beeing a chilean known UFO researcher but the user Pytom (if iam not wrong) asked my to proof him that Iam a known researcher something I could proof but yet I do not have with me a video where you can confirm my participation in a UFO TV program but these is a technical problem that I can just solve in december if i can fly to Chile where I came from because iam making my Ph.D in Germany and Iam not having the videos of my apparition in TV. is there any way to be cited in the list of southamerican ufologist? I sent Pytom 2 emails of 2 known members of this list who know me perfectly and also wrote 2 letters for stating that Iam a known UFO researcher. Also I developed a document calles "ovnilogo" related to the ufologist as you can see in http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ovnilogo . I hope to find better chances to me considered for this list. Thanks a lot. Best regards, Miguel Jordan (MIchel, user Esiomajb). Please see http://esiomajb.blogspot.com/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.2.102.192 (talk) 05:44, 21 September 2007 (UTC) I cannot figure out where to bring up a new topic, sorry for posting in the wrong place. This whole ufologist page needs a real overhaul. There are many people listed who are not ufologists, including contactees and radio hosts. Affiliation with UFOs does not mean one actively studies them. This would be akin to listing The Ice Man or Lucy in a listing of anthropologists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.23.16.9 (talk) 16:42, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citations & References

[edit]

Dear Dear Nima_Baghaei: for South America there are 2 citations: Argentina, Fabio Zerpa, (1928 - ), is a parapsychologist, historian and UFO researcher.[73] Ecuador, Dr. Carol Rosin, (1944 - ), is an award-winning educator, author, leading aerospace executive and space and missile defense consultant.[74]

At http://migueljordane.blogspot.com/ and at http://migueljordans.blogspot.com/ you will find a lot of citation about my publications in relation to the UFO and paranormal phenomena. Please look at it and please try to contact the user Pytom who asked me a lot of things in order to accept the mention of my person as a known ufologist. Please read some of my publications in http://www.aforteanosla.com.ar/Colaboraciones/autores/chile/michel%20jordan.htm , or http://dragoninvisible.com.ar/fuego/boletin2/dragon101.htm or the same but with the numbers 103-4-5-7-10. If you need something more tell my and I will send you also the emails from Fabio Zerpa and Dr.Carol Rosin, both ufologist mentioned in this wiki for southamerica. Best regards, Miguel Jordan (Michel), wikipedia user esiomajb1 (english) and esiomajb (spanish)

Erased again

[edit]

Dear Beekstra: you erased my mention as a ufologist for chile and also someone erased "south america". In wikipedia we find so many people erasing content without reading and corroborating first. Why do you eliminate the help of others, including me as a UFO researcher? I can not understand how do you expect we could be of help for wikipedia? Best regards, Miguel Jordan (Michel), wikipedia user esiomajb1 (english) and esiomajb (spanish) 134.2.102.192 (talk) 18:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article had several entries without any reliable source. Thus it becomes impossible to verify if those individuals exist or not and if those individuals are ufologist or not. I have removed some unsourced names. An advice to editors that they do not add any name here without providing reliable source. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 12:05, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This list is a gross violation of wp:BLP, loaded with entries that have no wp:V in wp:RS. Desperately needs rototiller surgery. LeadSongDog come howl! 15:23, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sagan

[edit]

I'm not sure it makes sense to include carl sagan in here. Carl Sagan worked constantly to dispel people's beliefs in junk science. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.126.170.110 (talk) 05:47, 31 December 2008 (UTC) I agree with the comment above. Real life is always more entertaining than "Hollywood Dramatics". In my life ,I have spoken with many people all over the world and the majority DID believe that there IS more than the common people were "allowed" to know. It would be foolish to think that our planet is the only one with intelligence.....very foolish because most of the people in this world are anything but intelligent. I have spent more time researching than shopping at the mall. Why? Because materialism, superficiality and all the "7 Deadly Sins" are BORING. Cheers to the Thinking Believers! A severe trim

[edit]

Given that the poor quality of the article Ufology leaves the exact definition with much to be desired, I think we should trim this down - especially the American section. There are many people who could easily qualify under the article 'Ufologist' without needing to be associated with those types of groups. Non-citation

[edit]

Under the page of UFO writers, I think you should add an entry for Walter Andrus, Jr. who just passed away.

December 12, 1920 - September 16, 2015 Obituary

Andrus, Walter H. Jr. Walter H. Andrus Jr. of Seguin Texas peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Cibolo Texas at the age of 94. He was born December 12, 1920 to the late Walter Harrison Andrus Sr. and Emma (Tholl) Andrus in Des Moines, Iowa. He had been a resident of Seguin since 1975 when he brought his family to Seguin to become the quality control manager of the new Motorola facility. Walter was the founder of the Mutual UFO Network, "the world's oldest and largest UFO phenomenon investigative body," known as Mufon. 71.3.70.132 (talk) 22:04, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just asking why my content was rejected? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 7thSister (talkcontribs) 00:13, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

7thSister, This is a list of people that satisfy wikipedia's notability standards. In particular minimum coverage in outlets that meet our sourcing requirments such as major newspapers or independently written biographies. MrOllie (talk) 00:37, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I will review the guidelines once more, and re submit when I'm satisfied I meet them 7thSister (talk) 01:33, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

7thSister, Yes, do let us know when we can find your profile in the NY times. MrOllie (talk) 02:31, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What does the NY Times have to do with CANADIAN ufology? Nothing last time I checked 7thSister (talk) 16:10, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The point is, no reliable sources exist, so it is unlikely that this can be added any time soon. This was all explained to you here: Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive_1087#Promoting_yourself_selflessly_but_properly. - MrOllie (talk) 16:12, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
