[edit]Perhaps addresses or cross-streets for buildings in the table?--ColonelHenry (talk) 00:36, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Building photos
[edit]Not sure if these are the ones needed but here are a few shots for consideration. I realize they are not of specific buildings so they probably won't be of much use here. If photos of specific buildings are needed, tell me addresses and I will try (no promises) to get them next time I'm there. Interestingly, sadly, the day after I shot the photos from the train station, a man was hit and killed at the NB train station, with his body parts flying into other waiting passengers, some of whom had to be treated in the hospital. The trains sometimes come very fast, like 100mph, with a serious blast of air as they speed past.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 12:08, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Requested move 22 May 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved. Supports outweigh opposes, with the valid argument that the current title isn't precise enough. — Amakuru (talk) 09:25, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
List of tallest buildings in New Brunswick → List of tallest buildings in New Brunswick, New Jersey – I realize this has been discussed before, but along with a bunch of pages like these, this one is where many have felt to add the city and state, since New Brunswick is the primary topic on this encyclopedia.. the province in Canada. A common practice in this case is to include the state for clarity and disambiguation. Per Wikipedia:ATDAB Tinton5 (talk) 01:49, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose as unnecessary disambiguation per WP:PRECISE and for the reasons given in the previous discussion at Talk:List of tallest buildings in Gary. There is no article about the tallest buildings in the Canadian province as a whole, so no need to disambiguate the article title. However, in this case it is true that there is a List of tallest buildings in Saint John, the capital of New Brunswick, so I've added a hatnote to avoid any possible confusion, however unlikely. That should be sufficient, but if consensus is to move this article, the hatnote should be removed. Station1 (talk) 05:08, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Support per WP:PRECISE:
titles should be precise enough to unambiguously define the topical scope of the article, but no more precise than that
. Just because we currently don't have an article on tallest building in New Brunswick, Canada, does not mean that wecancannot plausibly have one. The current title comes as a genuine surprise for the reader, since American New Brunswick is much less notable than the Canadian one. This does not mean we should use unnecessary disambiguation elsewhere – just today I moved List of Dynasty (TV series) characters as there is no other "Dynasty" that can have "characters", but this title definitively does not "unambiguously define the topical scope". No such user (talk) 14:12, 22 May 2017 (UTC)- Dynasty (Australian TV series) also has a cast of characters, and it's not impossible that someone, someday, might break out that list into a separate article, but unless and until that happens, I agree with you that List of Dynasty characters does not need disambiguating and that your move was a good one. Station1 (talk) 19:20, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose as unnecessary disambiguation per WP:PRECISE and other reasons mentioned above.Djflem (talk) 19:22, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- How is it unnecessary when we have New Brunswick, Canada as the primary topic? Station1/No such user make good points. Also, take into consideration we have the category Category:Buildings and structures in New Brunswick which is for Canada, and also Category:Buildings and structures in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A page for the tallest buildings in the province could be possible for creation. Tinton5 (talk) 20:26, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- There are 2 topics named "New Brunswick"; therefore disambiguation is necessary. There are 2 categories about buildings and structures in New Brunswick; therefore disambiguation is necessary. But there is only 1 article about the tallest buildings in New Brunswick; therefore disambiguation is not necessary. If that ever changes, so that there are 2 such articles, we'll have to reconsider, but not until then. Station1 (talk) 20:50, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NAMINGCRITERIA bullet 5, consistency. If the Category:Buildings and structures in New Brunswick, New Jersey carries the state designation - as it must - then List of tallest buildings in New Brunswick should also carry the state designation. It should not be necessary to create a provincial list of tall buildings for this consistency principle to operate.Newimpartial (talk) 18:58, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- The above bullet says: Consistency – The title is consistent with the pattern of similar articles' titles. The current title is consistent with the pattern of similar articles' titles. Djflem (talk) 14:32, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
- Not really, viz. List of tallest buildings in Akron, Ohio, List of tallest buildings in Albany, New York. Anyway, I was talking about consistency between the Category:Buildings and structures in New Brunswick, New Jersey and the List of tallest buildings therein. Newimpartial (talk) 17:10, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
- I thought you were talking about bullet 5 consistency since it used it to make your point. Please see previous discussion at Talk:List of tallest buildings in Gary.Djflem (talk) 21:17, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
- The discussion you directed me to pitted WP:US ageainst WP:PRECISE and fought to a draw. The resolution of that discussion however mentioned in particular that cases like this one, where the city in question is not the primary redirect for the place name, could be nominated to move; someone in that discussion ventured the opinion that such nominations would be uncontroversial. I didn't see anyone in that discussion refer to bullet 5 consistency (which wouldn't only apply to "List of tallest" pages but to other building and structure pages including categories, IMO. Newimpartial (talk) 22:12, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
- So..where is this discussion going? Tinton5 (talk) 05:18, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
