merger

[edit]

There is also a List of scientific journals in psychology, much less complete than this one,; since List of scientific ... has become the standard wording for other subjects, I intend to merge this into there. Any objections? DGG 03:09, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would only oppose it IF it led to the EXCLUSION of any of these journals if people started debating what counts as 'scientific'. I would hate to see everything that's not pure behaviorism relgated to a list of pseudo-scientific journals. B. Mistler 09:09, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

It seems a bit like merging that list, which is less complete, into this one, and turning that one into a redirect, makes more sense. OcciMoron 16:31, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ramble

[edit]

I am the editor of Journal of Research Practice (JRP), which has been listed here. I was hoping someone would create a WP page for JRP. Then I decided to take the plunge and create it myself--my first ever WP page, Journal of Research Practice. Reading through the copious instructions, conventions, warnings, and suggestions from WP was tiring, but somewhere it made perfect sense. I was not daunted. Finally, it was a delight to see my contribution appear in WP. Being an advocate of open access publishing, I am actually feeling attracted to WP. To end the ramble: Thank you David Goodman. Merging done

[edit]

I merged List of scientific journals in psychology into this list. Here's a copy of my comment from that talk page:

I merged List of scientific journals in psychology into List of psychology journals instead of merging list of psychology journals into list of scientific journals in psychology. I did this for a couple reasons:

  • Determining "scientific" vs "non-scientific" is problematic; what to do with organization magazines, etc?
  • It looks like "list of scientific journals..." and "list of journals..." are about equally used.
  • List of psychology journals was much larger, and thus the merge was easier the other way around.

Of course if folks disagree, then a simple copy & paste and rdr could move the content back to list of scientific journals in psychology. But for now, at least the lists are together. I won't redirect this talk page. -- phoebe/(talk) 20:31, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC regarding the standardization of journal lists names. Please comment at Talk:List of journals#RFC. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 01:38, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proper sorting of list

[edit]

I just added The Journal of Individual psychology and realise that currently this list is poorly sorted. I think this should be sorted under I for Individual, rather than T for The or J for Journal. Notgain (talk) 11:23, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • We routinely ignore "the" when listing journals (to sort them correctly in categories, we use the DEFAULTSORT template). Apart from that, while I see your point, personally I'd expect "Journal of Foo" to be listed under J, not F. A different solution could be to sort journals by subject (psychotherapy journals, general psychology journals, etc). As those subgroupings would be much smaller, it would not be so important whether "journal of Foo" would be under J or F in its subcategory. Of course, that would mean even more than already is the case that this list would duplicate its category, Category:Psychology journals. --Randykitty (talk) 12:44, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
