Is the title a mistake?

Establishing qualifying criteria
[edit]During the recent AfD discussion, the arbitrary nature of this list was brought up by the nominator, Rcsprinter123, and others. The original list author, Nodove does not appear currently active but their initial criterion is certainly implied by their original title. According to MOS:LIST, the inclusion should be clear and the content just as encyclopedic as any other article. Ks0stm provided a suggested set of inclusion criteria during the AfD discussion: Wikipedia notable, significance supported by RS, and/or deaths, injuries, or significant damage...
so this discussion is to decide if consensus supports endorsing Ks0stm's criteria or adopting other criteria that may be suggested. Thank you. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:00, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- Adding courtesy pings for other AfD participants: @Clarityfiend, Guy1890, and Pontificalibus: and AfD closer @Ritchie333:. Thank you. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:03, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
- If they're notable, they have articles, or at least should have them. If they don't, should they really be on this list? Clarityfiend (talk) 06:01, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
- I don't think a list should have to include only events that are sufficiently notable for their own article. In fact, a list can serve a useful purpose as a place to detail events of some note, but which aren't sufficiently notable to have an entire article written about them (e.g. List of earthquakes in the British Isles). I would support the inclusion criteria of "Wikipedia notable, significance supported by RS, and/or deaths, injuries, or significant damage". --Pontificalibus (talk) 07:37, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
