Cover Art

[edit]

Cover art images should not be used in this list as they are only being used for decorative purposes and this violates Wikipedia fair use policy, please see here (specifically point 8). Timkovski 22:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I question your decision. Are these really decorative? I see it as informative as it presents more information and therefore better benefits the end user. The images aren't borders or decorations. They are 100% related to the game and more informs the user about the game. Zomic_13 15:43, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree, they are not just for decorative reasons. TJ Spyke 22:26, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This has been debated many times, for example in List of Final Fantasy titles which is a featured list. Timkovski 23:14, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The main complaint about that list is that it is plain, uninteresting, and boring to read because there are no informative pictures added to the article. Simply adding the box arts or logos not only makes it more interesting to read, but provides more information about the game. The box arts/logos are not decorations and it is a disservice to all readers if you remove them. Zomic_13 13:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it would be more eye-pleasing to have the box art on the list, but that's not the point, it's clearly against wikipedia's fair-use policies and this has been demonstrated in the past. The argument that it makes the article more informative is weak at best, the games are easily recognisable by name and adding a small thumbnail of the cover art does little to improve that. The images are for decoration only on what is fairly pointless article. Timkovski 13:54, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at List of The Simpsons episodes, it has box arts (of the DVD seasons) which could be considered decorative and is a Featured List. So I think it's OK. TJ Spyke 21:49, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So I guess there is no objection to putting it back in? Since the objection was because of fair use pictures, which even Featured Lists (meaning the best lists on WP) have them. TJ Spyke 21:35, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have readded the box arts as it has become clear that having them is not a violation of the fair use rules for pictures. Zomic_13 05:15, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

I've created a Comparison of Wii Games which is a comprehensive list of games detailing what features each game has. I feel that having one list will make it easier for readers to find out whatever information they would like to know as well as being easier for editors to collaborate and contribute to. As such I'm proposing a merge between these two articles.

Please leave your thoughts and vote at the Comparison of WiiGames Talk Page

Mii in Super Mario Galaxy

[edit]

While not being used for gameplay, the Mii's head can be used to show whose file is whose in the file selection screen. Otherwise, one can use Mario, Yoshi, Toad, or Peach's head. 75.134.82.172 17:48, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Detailing how Miis are used

[edit]

I think it might be a good idea to add another column to tell how Miis are exactly used in a game, since in some games they are player characters while in others they are nothing more than an icon for the savegame. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grumbel (talkcontribs) 01:58, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a section in, but I'm not sure how the Mii is used in each and every game, I think wiki links and ref would help with notability of the section/subject!  Doktor  Wilhelm  21:16, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miis in Smash Bros

[edit]

Hey, Miis don't appear in Super Smash Bros Brawl at all. I just edited it out. 70.73.37.69 (talk) 03:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes they do. Didn't you check out the link in Smash Bros Dojo?? http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/wi-fi/wi-fi01.html Richiekim (talk) 19:27, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Link's Crossbow Training

[edit]

Should Link's Crossbow Training be added to this list? It keeps track of scores and such per Mii. - Zvar (talk) 01:01, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brain Challenge

[edit]

Please add Brain Challenge to the list as it uses the Miis for Players profiles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.22.66.161 (talk) 09:16, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added, along with Equilibrio, Family & Friends Party, Let's Catch, Party Fun Pirate, Pool Revolution: Cue Sports, Potpourrii, Texas Hold'em Poker, Texas Hold'em Tournament. I believe Bubble Bobble Plus & Jungle Speed also use Miis, but I couldn't find any suitable references. -69.137.145.72 (talk) 17:40, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flags for availability

[edit]

I have noticed that the US flag is being used in order to convey that a game is available in North America. I don't know if this usage is accurate or NPOV, as these games are also available in the rest of North America. I think it would be a good idea, if we remove all the flags and replace them with region shorthand (AUS, EU, JP, KO, and NA). Anyone else agree? Miis used in other Wii video games

[edit]

When my little brother and I bought Quantum of Solace and Taiko no Tatsujin Wii, Miis appeared in two video games. In Quantum of Solace, the Miis used in this game as save game icon. In Taiko no Tatsujin Wii, the Miis used as player icon and dancing characters. Blubbermarble (talk) 17:18, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regional titles & use column

[edit]

I have added a number of WiiWare games to the list, using the North American titles for the games. Should we include title from other English-speaking regions on the page when they differ? If so, how to format it? Also, can we establish some guidelines for identifying the 'use' of a Mii in a game? -69.137.145.72 (talk) 17:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pop'n Music

[edit]

There are Mii-playable characters on Pop'n Music for the Wii. [1]
