Adding tornadoes
[edit]https://www.weather.gov/gld/July26Tornadoes Here are 3 EFUs that need to be added. https://twitter.com/NWSTwinCities/status/1555338594956431360 And here is an EFU in Minnesota on the 31st. I suck wt editing so I’m not even gonna try editing it. IndyPlaneSpot (talk) 17:32, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- @IndyPlaneSpot: I added the three from July 26, but it seems tweets about the one on July 31 were deleted. Worst case, though, it will be in the NCEI release when data for July is out. TornadoLGS (talk) 03:02, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- Not sure if we still want to add July 31's now or wait until NCEI July release in a few months. Web Archive does have a copy of the tweets, and it appears the ones deleted were not from NWS, but rather a storm chaser who actually seems to have deleted their entire twitter account. NWS confirmed it was an EFU, so it could probably be added with the web archive as the source. Elijahandskip (talk) 03:42, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
Uhhh lol yea I asked abt the tornado and they confirmed it was an EFU. But the next day I got canceled for some old tweets… so that chaser who deleted his account. Hi. That’s me. So yea I’ll ask again on my new account. Also NWS Miami confirmed an EFU https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/wx/afos/p.php?pil=LSRMFL&e=202208042131 IndyPlaneSpot (talk) 12:00, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
More Tornadoes
[edit]I did some asking around and found a few more EFUs that need to be added. I also have a few more im waiting On responses from. Keep in mind these have very little official info about them. https://twitter.com/nwssanantonio/status/1557368739284373506?s=21&t=JJKhCx5jIesLlJalI2vIpw https://twitter.com/mattdevittwink/status/1555362009545428993? - @IndyPlaneSpot: We usually wait for some confirmation from the NWS, though EFUs often don't get official public documentation until the NCEI release. TornadoLGS (talk) 19:55, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- @TornadoLGS They are confirmed by the NWS. I asked them directly and they confirmed some. IndyPlaneSpot (talk) 21:13, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- @TornadoLGS all those links have confirmation that those EFUs were confirmed by their respective NWS offices. IndyPlaneSpot (talk) 14:34, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

- @IndyPlaneSpot: I'll see what I can do. I like to get more information from LSRs and/or PNSs since the info I get from tweets sometimes lacks specificity. Also, please don't ping me repeatedly in response to the same comment. I still am rather busy with other things, but I was able to get a break yesterday to add some things. I have this talk page on my watchlist, as do other editors who contribute to this list. TornadoLGS (talk) 18:48, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
So we are just gonna ignore the several confirmed tornadoes? IndyPlaneSpot (talk) 01:08, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- I added those. Interesting that I was able to find NWS statements outside of Twitter confirming some of them. I'm a bit surprised none of the other regular crew caught them. TornadoLGS (talk) 04:29, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- https://www.fox5vegas.com/2022/08/18/landspout-tornado-touches-down-henderson-national-weather-service-confirms/ Here is a landspout in nevada that needs to be added. IndyPlaneSpot (talk) 03:32, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- Weird. I can't find any actual NWS statement on it. TornadoLGS (talk) 03:41, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- @ChessEric and United States Man: Thoughts? TornadoLGS (talk) 04:06, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- You can add it since it’s confirmed by a reliable source. United States Man (talk) 12:15, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'm indifferent on the matter. I like NWS sources, but we don't have to use them. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 16:14, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

- Are we just gonna let these 5 tornadoes get forgotten
IndyPlaneSpot (talk) 17:35, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Take a breath, we know that these landspouts pop up a lot. It's best to wait for more in depth reports, ie the NCEI database, to collect them all so we can add them with all of the data. One tweet saying "EF-0" from the NWS with no other data isn't exactly useful when filling out the charts. Weatherkidnh (talk) 18:39, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
September 13 AZ gustnado
[edit]The narrative for this event mentions a gustnado and that you said you emailed them to ask about it. What did they tell you? In an update, the event details were kept the same, but they removed the mention of the gustnado. I have kept this tornado out of my file since it still seems dubious. @Wxtrackercody Supportstorm (talk) 03:14, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, they said they were removing mention of it being a gustnado. The tornado itself still stands. wxtrackercody (talk · contributions) 03:30, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- We should wait to add it until the mention is actually removed. NCEI is extremely slow and often "forgets" things, aka lost in the government process. I'm still waiting on an error (an extra tornadic fatality in 2022) to be fixed, which the local NWS office confirmed was a mistake and emails with NCEI also confirmed was a mistake. Basically, don't hold your breath while it is "being fixed". Elijahandskip (talk) 03:33, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- Certainly feels like they are not in any hurry to fix errors. There are dozens of tornado errors in NCEI that need fixing and coordinating with the WFOs is probably a pain and low on their priorities. If you are curious I have a mostly comprehensive list of errors I've found for the 2022 Storm Data. Supportstorm (talk) 03:44, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Supportstorm (talk) 03:40, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
