Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on March 9, 2013.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Star Trek: The Next Generation cast members Marina Sirtis and Denise Crosby had their roles switched during casting?

Voice actors?

[edit]

TNG is played in a lot of different countries, in a lot of different languages, with a lot of different voice actors. Should all of those voice actors go on this list? Somebody's just started adding the Latin American ones, but that's just the tip of the potential iceberg. Personally, I think that it's interesting information, but I don't believe it appears here. I would rather see another article of "Star Trek voice actors" that lists all the actors in different countries for each major character, sorted by the character (so all Picard's voices, all Data's voices, all Sisko's voices, etc). Thoughts? --Maelwys 15:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Complete Table

[edit]

How about arranging all this into a table: compete with appearances and roles. For example: KyuuA4 01:15, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Y

[edit]
Actor/Actress Role Episode Appearance
Patti Yasutake
Biff Yeager

I think that idea is acceptable. Q0 01:55, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I'd like to suggest having another column for 'additional notes'. Q0 02:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Majel Barrett

[edit]

I took a look at the season 3 DVD special feature interviews (I don't own the earlier seasons), and there are a couple of comments about Majel Barrett that might conceivably be of use for the intro...

Patrick Stewart: "Majel was... was always a welcome part of any story. Of course we had her with us every day because she is the voice of the computer too. But the character that they created for her, Deanna Troi's mother, Lwaxana Troi, was perfect for Majel, for her style, for her sense of humour, for her flamboyance, and to get her involved in the way that she was with the captain in that sort of semi-humorous romantic way, provided all of us with a... with a lot of entertainment. A lot of us consider really to be, you know, a member of the inner circle."
Marina Sirtis: "With Majel it was a... it was more than just acting with someone who was playing your mum. I was really nervous the first time she was gonna be on the show, I just thought ok we're gonna have to be good because the boss's wife is coming so, you know, but after about five minutes of working with Majel I... we all realised she was like wackier than the rest of us put together, and she was just joining in and having a blast and she really just fit right in. So it was great."

Table structure

[edit]

I've just reverted a number of changes to the table layout conducted this evening. This was on the basis that it was promoted to Featured List on the basis of the current design, which in turn was based off other similar lists. It is designed to work on all screen resolutions, whereas the version that it was being changed to would have pushed the tables out of alignment on narrower resolutions. Miyagawa (talk) 22:10, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, the old table does not work on all screens, and it looks messy and terrible - this is why the new layout is used for many other pages. The ranks before the names are redundant, so are most of the recurring characters who only appeared in one or two episodes. The new look is more stream lined. That is all. I've just checked the other articles that this format was originally based on, and they too have been updated. So happy to accept the new format. However, you are also introducing errors into the table as you're basing it on characters and not cast members (per article title). Just be careful when changing it over - also you're including Wil Wheaton as appeared in Nemesis, when his appearance was not in the finished cut of the film. Miyagawa (talk) 23:31, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I included Denise Crosby in the main and recurring sections to add more detail as to which character she played in each season. I'm assuming that's what you meant by 'basing it on characters and not cast members'. Wil Wheaton does appear in Nemesis, you've just never watched it on an HD TV before (he's cut out of the picture on the non-widescreen versions, but appears on all other versions and also on the theater version when it was first released). BSCD128 (talk) 09:39, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what version you've seen, but Wheaton doesn't appear in the cinematic release of the film. He even talks about the deleted scene in an interview here. Miyagawa (talk) 20:53, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"earlier version of the security chief"

[edit]

Everything I've ever seen, including the Tasha Yar Wikipedia page, has said that Macha Hernandez was the earlier version with the Tasha Yar character only being created after Crosby was switched with Sirtis. --Khajidha (talk) 11:30, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Quite right - I wrote both and it was a mistake on here. I've rectified it. Miyagawa (talk) 23:26, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Miyagawa:
"Crosby was cast as an modified of the security chief, called Tasha Yar"
looks like some kind of cut-and-paste error. It certainly isn't grammatical, and I can only guess what you meant to write. --Thnidu (talk) 07:01, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mot the Barber is main cast?

[edit]

Either this is an error, or I have seriously misunderstood the term "main cast." Kilyle (talk) 11:32, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Davis missing

[edit]

I added mention of Daniel Davis ('Professor Moriarty') to the main STNG page, but refrained from trying to correct his omission here in fear of gumming up the table edit. I leave that task to another. 2601:410:200:2C80:9889:D39:2E86:E388 (talk) 20:45, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
