Fair use rationale for Image:Ianshameless.png
[edit]Image:Ianshameless.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Character chart
[edit]Some enterprising person would do everyone a favor by creating one or more charts of characters to better explain the convoluted and fluid relationships among them. 98.233.11.178 (talk) 20:36, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Edited Fiona's Gallagher's bio and changed the child with note from Steve McBride to Craig Garland. It's his child, she's just raising it with Steve in Amsterdam. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.1.27.232 (talk) 21:39, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Fergal
[edit]I was just watching the third episode of Series Four, and although the subtitles say otherwise, I'm pretty sure Mimi screams "They've taken my first born," when the family discovers the hand belongs to Fergal. The subtitles say that she screams "They've taken my Fergal," I could be wrong, but someone mentioned on the man Discussion Page for the series that subtitles aren't always reliable, and it would be hard to mistake "Fergal" for "Firstborn" since they only share one letter. Of course if you go by the plaque then there's no way that Fergal is the first born, but it's not like that would be the first plot hole when it comes to the Maguire kids. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.63.206.30 (talk) 04:37, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Shelia a Nympho?
[edit]Was Sheila a nymphomaniac or just sexually frustrated? Whatever it was it seems to be a pretty noteworthy character trait, I mean isn't that how her and Frank got together to begin with? And it's the first time I think pegging has been seen in a series. Also I seem to remember her having a fondness for lesbians, because wasn't she devistated when she found out Karen wasn't really with Jez? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.63.200.157 (talk) 04:13, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Hmm it is all possible...but I think Frank summed Sheila up pretty well in the opening credits - 'one plate short of a full set'. --Andygray110 (talk) 01:43, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Lip Returning
[edit]I don't think this is true at all.
1. The same Facebook page posted an "interview" with Elliott in which he apparently said that Shameless was to return in november (2009) and that there would be a christmas episode, and did that happen? No.
2. If they were going to bring Lip back this series, wouldn't they have done it by now?
3. Lip is still on the Past Characters on the Shameless website, when even characters that have left this series remain there (Yvonne, Stan etc.)
So WHY did i get a warning for vandilism when i was just trying to fix something so people wouldn't get false hope? 81.106.148.147 (talk)
I agree, the page itself doesn't even claim to be the official Shameless facebook page, just the only one with a link to Elliott Tittensor (sic). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.63.200.217 (talk) 19:27, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Ian Gallagher - past character
[edit]No Links are given to back up this assertion, there is no mention of him leaving on any of the Shameless fan sites, the official Channel four page or Gerard Kearns' fansite and the ending of the series doesn't give the impression that he's leaving, just that he's driving away to dump the body!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brother Psychosis (talk • contribs) 15:48, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Birthdays
[edit]Where are the birth dates for each character sourced from? I'm confused about some of them, particularly Mandy, who was apparently born in August 1988, but yet she's in the same school year/classes as Ian (1989)?
She also says in episode 5.14 to Tom that she was 15 when she fell pregnant with Katie in series 2/2005. Lip (1988) turns 19 2 years later in series 4/2007, so it's not really adding up. same goes for Karen. Outrune (talk) 10:20, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Liam Gallagher was three years old in series one during 2004, but as of series 7, between 2009-10, he's eleven years old.
Its never been made clear whether Mandy or Micky was the youngest child of Paddy and Mimi Maguire.
Also, Jamie Maguire was said to have been in jail for ten years when he first appeared in series 4 in 2007. In series 5, when describing an incident during his first year in jail to Karen where he was being attacked, he appeared in the flashback to be a relatively mature young man. Yet, in series 7:16, it was stated that Jamie was born in 1982, even when it was revealed in a conversation between Paddy and Mimi 7:14 that Jamie actually uttered his first words around the time John Lennon was shot, which happened in 1980.
Liam and Franks birthday is 26th January, we know this because they shared a birthday on the first episode of series 7, (26 january 2010) Frank was 50 and Liam 11
The original airdate featuring Frank and Liam's birthday may have been 26th of January, but the episode was filmed during the early summer. Snowfalls during January 2010 was pretty thick in most parts of Britain. And if the actual timeframe of the Episode 1 Series 7 was intended to have been in January 2010, this would have been noticable within the episode itself. But it was filmed at least six months earlier than that. Furthermore, the outdoor scenes during episodes 13-16 of series 7 did feature a lot of snow, and those episodes were broadcast in Aprile-May period of 2010. The first scenes in Shameless are often filmed between May and June. So Frank and Liam's birthday must have taken place roughly six months after January. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.209.77.67 (talk) 18:28, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Paddy Alive?
[edit]I suspect that these last words were written by an Irishman, for they make no sense in English:
"while he is away, at the end of series 7, Joe tells Karen that he, like Paddy, has family members in Ireland and it is heavily implied that has had Paddy Maguire killed, although Paddy's demise was not seen onscreen, which casts doubt on this. Joe's actual words were: "I don't think we'll be seeing Paddy again". While Joe sounded sure of himself, this by itself is not confirmation that Paddy has died"".
Can someone with a proper command of the English language, and a knowledge of the show, please re-write this.124.197.15.138 (talk) 04:29, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I wrote this paragraph months ago to explain that Paddy Maguire's demise was uncertain, due to the fact that he left without hassle two episodes before Joe Pritchard broke the news to Karen in 16-7. By the way, I'm not Irish, but English, and I have observed the show in painstaking detail. You have to be pretty slow if none of this made sense to you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.205.76.46 (talk) 22:05, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I endeavoured to tidy up this section somewhat. However, I do not recall Joe's precise words. I do remember what Frank said and that it is never confirmed at all about Paddy. (Galaxycat (talk) 11:01, 10 October 2010 (UTC)).
I recently watched the episode again [the last episode in season 7]. Joe and Karen have left the estate and stop at a cafe. Joe says to Karen that he does not think that they will have to worry about Paddy anymore (Galaxycat (talk) 09:52, 30 October 2010 (UTC))
- I think if he was dead, it would have been mentioned by someone in Series 8. Swaddon1903 (talk) 19:02, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Lillian's Age
[edit]It seems to me as if there has been a lot of confusion about Lillian's actual age. At the end of Season 7, the show depicts her as having been born in 1870 [ie in the scene when many of the characters are all in The Jockey being held hostage by Rosco]. I think this was supposed to be meant as a joke, as it is hardly likely that Lillian is this old. Other than this, I do not think that her age is mentioned at all. Character Images
[edit]Hi - I do not want to be the source of any friction. I, however, am in full support of the person who took the time and effort to put the pictures up of every single cast member in Shameless. It was suggested that there be a cast photo instead. This in my mind does not do as much justice to the page as the individual photos. In respect of the latter, one has an enhanced understanding of each individual character, which complements the character sketch. A cast photo, in my mind, would be the less preferable option because in such a photo one is less able to see the characters as clearly and one would be hard-pressed to find a photo which showcases everybody [ie the Maguires, the Gallaghers, as well as the new characters]. I would respectfully ask that the page be as it was before ie with the individual photos of the cast members. (Galaxycat (talk) 11:15, 20 January 2011 (UTC))
- Hi, unfortunately WP:NFLISTS states this is not possible. We did the same thing over at EastEnders with our lists of characters, and after debating for several weeks, we had no choice but to have our images removed. A cast photo was not possible but in some cases we have used free images to depict the actors, but have not put them into the infoboxes - for example Jordan Johnson. So as much as I sympathise with the situation, it's not possible to return the images to the page. AnemoneProjectors 11:22, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
That is a bit disappointing, but thank you for your prompt reply. (Galaxycat (talk) 11:42, 20 January 2011 (UTC))
Liam cannot have been born in 1998
[edit]The following is the ages of the Gallagher children in series one if Liam was born in 1998 (as stated by the wikipedia page) Fiona - 18 - 1983 Lip - 13 - 1988 Ian - 12 - 1989 Carl - 11 - 1990 Debbie - 8 - 1993 Liam - 3 - 1998
As stated by the wiki page Liam is 5 years old in about series 3 (2006). Lip had his 19th birthday in series 4 (2007), Ian was 15 at the start of the first series (2004) and Debbie has her 16th birthday in series 6 (2009). Liams age is actually stated in either the first or second series to be 3 or 4. There is a lot of confusion within the family about ages. Eg. Debbie states she's 11 or 12 depending on which parent you ask and Lip finds out his birth was registered a year late. However Liam would still have been born in 2000 or 2001.
Fiona - 21 - 1983
Lip - 16 - 1988
Ian - 15 - 1989
Carl - 14 - 1990
Debbie - 11 - 1993
Liam - 3 - 2001
