List of Saturday Night Live hosts and musical guests → List of Saturday Night Live episodes — Since every other TV series has an episode list in the format "List of [TV series] episodes," this page should be moved for consistency. This page also includes 'specials,' so it is clearly an LOE and not just a list of hosts and musical guests. —Wikipedical (talk) 20:20, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Presidential Bash 2000
[edit]I know there was one in 2000, similar to what their doing this year. Does anyone know what date and more info about it. I remember both Gore and Bush appeared in pre-recorded segments. --Levineps (talk) 21:11, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- This is not a page for discussing the show itself, just discussing the article. StewdioMACK (talk) 14:37, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Host(s) column
[edit]Why does every host have quotation marks around his or her name? Or in the case of multiple hosts, why are there quotation marks around both of their names? Their names are not episode titles. AstérixSméagol (talk) 13:44, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Good question. Both quotation marks and bold are redundant. Drmies (talk) 04:16, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Commercials
[edit]There was also a special called Saturday Night Live: Just Commercials. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.88.69.154 (talk) 04:02, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
Season 38 premiere?
[edit]On the season 38 SNL page, the date is listed as September 15th 2012, but on this page the airdate for the first episode is listed as the 29th. Can we get some confirmation either way? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.131.176.91 (talk) 05:02, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
'Listings' sections on Seasons pages
[edit]I have begun removing the "Listings" sections from Seasons pages. The articles already contain data about episodes, and information on repeat airings have been consistently removed from Wikipedia, failing WP:NOTDIR. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wizard Of Oz - Television Airdates, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Airdates of Lost, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Airdates of House (TV series), etc. -- Wikipedical (talk) 00:37, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Query
[edit]Is there a reason all the hosts are in quotes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.197.91.101 (talk) 12:11, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- This has been fixed. StewdioMACK (talk) 10:17, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Host formatting
[edit]Because they are a person's name, should each host's name be in quotes? I know that they are in the |Title field, which automatically puts the quotes in, but I feel that since they are only referencing the name of a person, and not a title of an episode, say like "Treehouse of Horror" on The Simpsons, there should not be any quotes. In order to do so, all of the hosts would have to be added to the |RTitle field, which will keep them in the same table spot, but lose the quotes. -Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:55, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, that's a very good idea. I've begun making that change on the season pages. Thanks for the suggestion. -- Wikipedical (talk) 04:52, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Pick a color for a new season
[edit]I want to add season 42. Is there a standard for the season colors or is it random? Vacuousness (talk) 14:50, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
- Do not add season 42, per WP:TV. LLArrow (talk) 22:02, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Line colors on specials section
[edit]It seems to me that the line color to match up a special episode with its season should be the line color from the previous entry. Meaning that the colored line shouldn't come at the end of what could potentially be a long text entry, but should come right above the title of the special episode. I will go and look at some other Wikipedia entries to see how they've done it, but to me this is a bit confusing. Jlhollin (talk) 17:47, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
Question about overall table.
[edit]Is there any particular reason why there is no overall list? Like a table that tells how many time a person has hosted SNL? I had the idea to add it, but it was such an obvious idea I wondered if there was a reason why there isn't one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KingWither (talk • contribs) 16:30, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

Requested move 12 July 2021
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Moved to List of Saturday Night Live episodes (season 31–present). See also Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television#Episode_list_titles and my closing comments. No such user (talk) 08:44, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
List of Saturday Night Live episodes → List of Saturday Night Live episodes (seasons 31–present) – The current article title falsely implies that this list has all episodes rather than just episodes from season 31 onward. See also my request for move on List of The Simpsons Episodes. Blubabluba9990 (talk) (contribs) 17:54, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support. The current title is indeed misleading as it doesn't have a list of all episodes. A better system is one used by Lists of Doctor Who episodes. Gonnym (talk) 09:20, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support. Obviously. And redirect List of Saturday Night Live episodes to Saturday Night Live#Broadcast. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:19, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose current proposal, but support move to List of Saturday Night Live episodes (season 31–present) – the word "seasons" should not be plural in this context (it is not the same situation as "(seasons 1–30)"). --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:44, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose This proposal flies in the face of established convention - See for example List of The Simpsons episodes. Where it has been necessary to split episode lists that break the post expand include size, sub-pages are created but the master list is not renames. This avoids any necessity to move episode lists every time a sub-page is created. IIRC, the original move discussion that resulted in this convention is the one at Talk:List of Casualty episodes (series 1–20) along with other explanations on that page. --AussieLegend (✉) 17:12, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support Brought here from the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television § Episode list titles. I also agree with the editors at WT:TV and the RM nominator(s). If the "season A-B" article is disambiguated, then so should related articles, such as the "season C-present" article. An article's title should be the clearest indicator that reflects the content of the article: "List of X episodes" indicates that all episodes are listed on the article, but "List of X episodes (season C-present)" indicates that only a set number of episodes are listed on the article and that the rest are at a related article. I'll be voting to support the other related RM's, with the same reasoning I've listed here. -- /Alex/21 01:58, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- Note - Since the result of this RM may contradict the current, ell established naming process, this RM should be halted until the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Episode list titles concludes with an appropriate outcome. --AussieLegend (✉) 10:22, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support, but closing admin, it really has to be List of Saturday Night Live episodes (season 31–present) (singular "season") per IJBall above. -- Wikipedical (talk) 15:19, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
Oppose. See Talk:List of Casualty episodes#Requested move 12 July 2021. Andrewa (talk) 17:36, 20 July 2021 (UTC)- Support (change of !vote) to keep history with content following split. Andrewa (talk) 16:34, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
