Non-soloists

[edit]

@Paper9oll @K-popguardian @Windborne Rider @Btspurplegalaxy do any of you have any opinions on what the best way would be to restructure this list to be more complete and include SM Entertainment artists that have Wikipedia articles but don't yet fall into the "soloist" category because they haven't had their official "solo debut"?

For example, Yeri, Chenle, Jaemin, Jeno, Jisung, Jungwoo, Seunghan, Sehun, Karina, Winter, Giselle, Ningning, etc. are all SM Entertainment artists but currently have no place in the "List of SM Entertainment artists" list because they're not "soloists".

I was maybe thinking of listing group members as sub-bullets under their group's entry in the "groups" list so they could be included there, thoughts? RachelTensions (talk) 19:42, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you to include them under their respective groups. 𝙹𝚒𝚢𝚊𝚗 忌炎 (𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚔) 19:59, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should we list all group members (to make this into a complete list), or only those with standalone articles? RachelTensions (talk) 20:01, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For me, only with articles while those without article yet can be added when they established notability. But let's wait for the other three users' opinion. 𝙹𝚒𝚢𝚊𝚗 忌炎 (𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚔) 20:07, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I guess another route would be to change the "Soloists" list to say "Individuals" instead which would allow listing everybody. RachelTensions (talk) 20:13, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This seems like the best approach. I don't see another way to format it. When I look at the artist lists for YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment, I notice there are no pages linked for artists who don't fall into the soloist category. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 10:02, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Retain soloists. Add sub-bullets for all members under each groups instead of just group members having article as this would prevent disruptive editing in turn socking, I believe that if we decided to add non-soloists member to the list then it's better to apply precaution and/or preventive actions rather than waiting for the event to happen then deciding it in another round of discussion. In addition, I also don't see how naming and/or renaming to Individuals would make any differences in terms of precaution and/or preventive actions as we're basically giving the assumptions that we're deliberate not listing out other members, of course in terms of experienced editor, this is pretty understandable and straightforward however in the perspective of readers, it may not be and they would attempt to basically add in the "missing" members than this is where the edit war would start. Yeah, listing everyone under their respective group would prevent people arbitrarily thinking someone is “missing” from the soloists category even though they haven’t had a debut as a soloist.
I thought of expanding the list into a more comprehensive set of tables that would include more information like debut year, debut single and maybe a link to their discography… I’ll mock it up in a draft and see what it looks like RachelTensions (talk) 13:37, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
