Inclusion in list
[edit]It is not clear if this list is complete, there is completely no source. It looks like a list of bicyle path for which the original author once made articles, but I have no idea if this list represents all important LA bike paths, or if it is extremely biased towards his region. --EdgeNavidad (talk) 16:55, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- I've added a link to the LADOT map of bike routes. Unfortunately, LADOT does not have an easily accessible list of bike paths. I will go through the map to ensure that all bike paths are contained on the page. On a cursory check, it seems thorough, with the possible problem that some of these bike paths may not technically be in the city of Los Angeles. (Long digression on the oddities of LA regional geography held back unless you want it.) It may be easier and better for the user to retitle this more precisely as "List of Los Angeles County bike paths." (All of the city of Los Angeles is contained in the county of Los Angeles, but the county of Los Angeles contains several cities and towns and unincorporated areas that are not part of the city of Los Angeles. What outsiders think of as Los Angeles is better defined as the county than the city.) Rednikki (talk) 17:49, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
- I have begun the process of adding all bike paths as designated by the LADOT. There are significantly more than were on the original list, a number of which are under one mile. I am noting the location, mileage and LADOT Bike Path ID for each bike path in order to make it easier for other editors to add additional information. Up for discussion: whether every individual bike path is worthy of its own page. Rednikki (talk) 19:39, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
- Confirmed: Several of these bicycle paths are not part of the City of Los Angeles, or have only pieces in the City of Los Angeles. They are all, however, part of the County of Los Angeles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rednikki (talk • contribs) 20:08, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
sidewalk legality
[edit]I'm not sure I believe that it is legal to ride on sidewalks in California. The article should contain a reference to the California Vehicle Code justifying this claim. peter (talk) 18:33, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
It's not legal everywhere but it is legal in Los Angeles. I added a citation with a link to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation's Bike Law summary page on their Bike Blog. Rednikki (talk) 17:38, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
L. A. River bicycle paths
[edit]Are there actually two separate L. A. River bicycle paths? They both go alongside the L. A. River, right? I would say they are two sections of one bike path with more sections to be added later. Sam Tomato (talk) 20:34, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
LADOT Bike Path Projects
[edit]A good resource is LADOT's Bike Blog Bike Path Projects but I am not sure where to put the reference. Sam Tomato (talk) 20:59, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
