[edit]Removed the following inappropriate commented-out text from list of defunct railroads:
- SLIM&S/Mopac at Columbus? Did the CCC&StL/NYC ever actually lease the Louisville and Jeffersonville Bridge and Railroad Company or otherwise enter Kentucky? What about the B&OSW? Did the Cairo and Norfolk Railroad exist? Cincinnati, Covington and Southeastern Railway?

SLIM&S operated the incline and trackage at Columbus, KY from December 1869 to January 1, 1912. Source GM&O Historical Society article "Columbus the town that might have been" by F. Sloan's Valley Railway (Kentucky)
[edit]I just came across a stock certificate for a railroad company called "Sloan's Valley Railway". It is dated 1907 and it states that it was incorporated in Kentucky. Does anyone have information on this RR? I did not know if I should add it to the list of obsolete railroads considering I have nothing more than a name and a date to go on right now.

As an update after more searching, I found the following description of Sloan's Valley Railway:
SLOAN'S VALLEY RAILWAY COMPANY. RECORDS, 1906-08. Incorporated in Kentucky (1906) for the purpose of constructing a railroad in Pulaski and Whitley counties. Records include stockholders' and directors' minutes (1906-08, 1 vol.); correspondence, etc. (1907-08, 0.1 cu. ft.). Southern Railway Archives. Ms84-146.
It appears to be an extremely short-lived railroad, and I am curious if it ever operated? Is that a requirement for listing in the defunct railroads list?
