Old Auckland (The Strand) Railway Station
[edit]Why doesn't the Strand station have a separate page? Surely it deserves something somewhere... Are the platforms still there (at least the one used for the loop trains for a while?)
- The platforms are there, however they are not used for any scheduled services at all. The only trains that use that platform are special trains, such as those run by the Railway Enthusiasts Society. Sometimes special test trains will use the loop tracks that pass this station but they often do not stop there. I agree that there should be an article for this station, however its current status makes this unworthwhile. --James Pole 02:29, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
The Strand is now linked to the Auckland railway stationpage as this was the new name for the platforms there after Britomart Transport Centre opened. The platforms are still there but unused as no train services stop here any longer. Endeavour3 01:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Update: see The Strand Station. It is the terminus for Northern Explorer services between Auckland and Wellington. Akld guy (talk) 22:33, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
Information Boxes for all stations
[edit]I have added information boxes to all the train stations in Auckland that is in operational service (i.e. those stations that are listed in the timetables, which excludes Mangere even though some trains still stop there). An example of an information box with a photo can be found at Papatoetoe Train Station and one without a photo can be found at Homai Train Station. It took me a lot of time to add these to all the stations -- so if you would like to see anything changed please let me know. --James Pole 02:29, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've TWP'ed all stations and put in a route/service/line (whatever) infoboxes (should have used the proper succesion template, that has just been developed for rail, but i don't udnerstnad it enough!) Pickle 16:40, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- James, can you comment over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject NZR about the infoboxes. I'm thinking of changing them/adding functionality. Pickle 21:00, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Dates stations opened and closed
[edit]I suggest contacting TranzRail (www.tranzrail.co.nz) for the years the stations opened and closed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bossie52864 (talk • contribs) 09:43, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
- How do you plan to do that when neither the company nor the website exist? pcuser42 (talk) 20:07, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
I've got opening/closing dates for New Zealand railway stations (except the more modern ones for which more information can probably be found on the New Zealand Herald site for the Auckland ones). I'll update this list when I've got a spare moment or two. — Matthew25187 (talk) 00:05, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- Done. — Matthew25187 (talk) 09:49, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

- AT's search is currently broken so in the absence of any newer AT/MAXX source, I'm fine with this. pcuser42 (talk) 05:49, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Geographic map
[edit]I have added a geographic map to the article. The map was not up to date and I asked its original developer, User:Vardion, to update it. A big thank you to User:Vardion for speedily (< 5 hours) updating. For future updates, if the new version doesn't display after page refreshing, the cache will need purging. That is done by inserting 'purge' with 2 curly brackets on each side into the section. It forces an immediate update of the cache. Akld guy (talk) 03:32, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Another big thank you to Vardion for distinguishing the fare stages on each line from the ordinary stations. Akld guy (talk) 06:29, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Eastern Line
[edit]In the list of stations, fare stages on the Eastern Line are not bolded. They appear to be Orakei and Glen Innes. Akld guy (talk) 04:13, 17 January 2016 (UTC) Edited for clarity. Akld guy (talk) 06:30, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Also on this line, I think it's inadequate (and possibly misleading) to list the stations only as far as Westfield, with the following appended: "Trains follow the Southern Line from Westfield then terminates at Manukau". Since the Eastern Line is a dedicated route all the way from Britomart to Manukau, I will add the stations Otahuhu-Manukau in the next couple of days, if no objection. Akld guy (talk) 12:41, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- I have added stations south of Westfield, that is, Otahuhu, Mangere, Middlemore, Papatoetoe, Puhinui, and Manukau into the list for this line. The distances from Britomart: I don't know where or how to source that. Fare stages at Orakei and Glen Innes still need bolding. Akld guy (talk) 01:57, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
- Fare stages at Orakei and Glen Innes now bolded after I figured out how to do it. Akld guy (talk) 20:39, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
The map
[edit]I've deleted Westfield station and the dots at fare stage stations from the map, because nobody else seemed inclined to do it and an attempt to get the file's originator User:Vardion to do it has not been successful. If anyone has better skills than I had with Paint, or has the appropriate program, please go ahead and do it properly. Akld guy (talk) 22:13, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Ngākōroa
[edit]Could someone please add Ngākōroa railway station to the Southern Line table, I have no clue how to edit this table without screwing it up. Thanks, Fork99 (talk) 08:47, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Fork99 - It's already listed under the new stations section. The reason why its not on the table whereas Drury and Paerata are is because that station never existed whereas Drury and Paerata were stations that existed previously but were closed. DDMS123 (talk) 18:57, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
