Beta Chi chapter, at Utica

[edit]

What school was the home of this chapter? There is a discrepancy in two good references. The national website says this chapter is "Composed of students who have attended S.U.N.Y. College of Technology", a school formed in 1966, and cites that school's name for the chapter. HOWEVER, the Baird's Archive shows this chapter at Utica University, founded as the Utica College of Syracuse University in 1946, and recently renamed as Utica University.

Which is correct? For now I will use the info from Baird's, assuming the national website is incorrect. Jax MN (talk) 16:22, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The National site has composites that *clearly* show the school as having been at "SUNY Institute of Technology - Utica/Rome". See the deck at https://www.apd.org/chapter-composites.html . So to me it is *clearly* SUNY Polytechnic Institute -Marcy (which has a Utica Mailing address) .Naraht (talk)
Yep. Good catch. Beta Iota chapter was at Utica College of Syracuse University, now named Utica University and no longer part of the Syracuse system, and Beta Chi chapter was at SUNY's Institute of Technology at Utica / Rome, a school now called SUNY Polytechnic Institute. I will make the adjustments on the table. The Baird's Archive is correct, but shows older names for these respective schools. Additionally, the names are correct on the chapter list for the national website, if confusing because of those recent school name changes. I will ask the Archivist to update Baird's school names. Another closed colony

[edit]

A colony is listed for Briarcliffe College, which ceased operations with the grounds sold to another institution on 31 Dec 2018. There are hints that the colony survived perhaps a year, maybe starting in 2017 and ending with the closure of the school. Unless there was a chartering for this group, that line should be removed, per F&S Project standard practice. Jax MN (talk) 22:42, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. I had not checked against the fraternity's chapter list yet. I have removed it. Rublamb (talk) 03:09, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
