She died in La Ceiba, not La Cebia
Link to TLC (band)
Throughout the Lisa Lopes article her band TLC is of couse mentioned multiple times. But the name "TLC" is not hyperlinked to the TLC_band article: [1] . Why is it not linked? (It is linked in footer, Categories) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.216.188.68 (talk) 16:47, 28 February 2007 (UTC).
Article name
Why is it "Lisa Lopes" and not "Left Eye"... According to some guide line for common names in Wikipedia, I think the article should be named Left Eye. Sabertooth 00:47, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Deleted "Lisa was of Cape Verdean ancestory"
No presented any evidence that she is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jpeirpont (talk • contribs) 06:23, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Grammar
There is some horrid grammar in the first section of this article, featuring typos such as the misspelling of miss as myss, yew for you, and use of internet lingo such as idk (I don't know). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.97.113.235 (talk) 01:06, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
agreed, and the death section is a bit too conversational. whole thing reads like a PR piece
Filmed death?
This article is categorized as a filmed death. Do we have a proper source for this? NorthernThunder 23:54, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, in the documentary “Last Days of Left Eye”, her passenger was recording when she crashed her car in the fatal accident. But her actual death is not visible. When the car crashes, the camera gets damaged. So I'm not sure if she should be included in that category. MrBlondNYC (talk) 04:00, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
yeah, Iv'e watched this girl for years, and she never once said her dad was from Honduras, and that also would have been mentioned in The Last Days Of Left Eye, so.....<<nunu>> —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.78.115.2 (talk) 21:48, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
What caused the car accident?
The article doesn't elaborate on what caused the car accident. In the YouTube video it seems as if she was jerking the steering which caused the car to flip over. Maikel (talk) 08:26, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Why you chasin waterfalls dude? She is dead nothing u can do... Why you gotta blame her? Left Eye RIP FTW Testmasterflex (talk) 04:43, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
The Matrix
wasn't she going to be in one of the matrix sequals or am i getting muddled? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.173.86.208 (talk) 14:23, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Youre confusing her with Aaliyah. Aaliyah was also a musician who was popular in the same decade and genre as Lopes and died only nine months prior to Lopes(Aaliyha: plane crash, Lopes: car crash). Its an understanable mistake as, in addition to all of the said similarities, they bare a slight physcial resemblence.
2008 album sang by corpse?
How is she going to make a cd when she is dead? I'm confused can anyone explain? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.196.214.192 (talk) 10:23, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- The same way Tupac & Selena keep releasing "new" albums; unreleased material. Tracks that probably wouldn't have been released if the artist hadn't died are almost always released after their deaths for a myriad of reasons. Pinkadelica (talk) 05:24, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Autopsy photos link deleted
- On September 26th, 2006, at 9:02 pm ET, I deleted the link to the autopsy photo, as readers of the Lisa Lopes entry may consider it to be distasteful and objectionable content. This is great
Umm..then how 'bout they just don't click on it, Mom? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.239.33.148 (talk) 06:41, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Two different stories given for her nickname
In the introduction it says that she's called "Left Eye" because her boyfriend noticed her right eye was larger than her left eye and in the TLC part it says that she "named herself" Left Eye because her "eyes were particularly beautiful, especially her left eye." It can't be both. 24.1.30.186 (talk) 00:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)energyturtle
- I never noticed this. I deleted the "her beautiful left eye" reason, as the source given is dead. Plus the source for the "boyfriend noticed her left eye" reason is better overall and it makes more sense to begin with. I honestly couldn't picture Lisa being so vain as to giving herself that nickname because she thinks her eyes are beautiful (especially the left one), lmao. Eye condom
This article is almost useless without a photograph of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes with a condom on her eye. Also it is missing some vital details, for example: was the condom inflated or floppy? If floppy, how did she avoid it hitting her in her Right Eye when executing badass dance moves? Spermicide would sting quite badly, I'd imagine.
are you serious? grow up..... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.78.115.2 (talk) 21:46, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
It remained in it's packaging so there was no danger of Lopes being hit in the eye by Spermicide. The package itself was normally secure in an eye patch or in the framing of large plastic glasses. I dont know if youre trolling or not but if not hope this helps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.34.246.81 (talk) 18:55, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Lesbian relationship with Peggy Lipton or vandalism?
Under the Personal Life section it's stated that she inadvertently burned down Peggy Lipton's mansion by setting her shoes on fire in a bathtub. First of all, where was it documented that Lisa was in a romantic relationship with Peggy or that she was a lesbian. Secondly, I remember that it was her boyfriend Andre Rison whose house was burnt down because of her antics. --71.177.84.227 (talk) 01:53, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
- It was just some idiot trying to be cute. It's been reverted and the editor has been fully warned. Percxyz (Call me Percy, it's easier) 02:44, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Nonsense
"During this documentry, it is revealed that Lopes felt she was being chased by a spirit, intending her harm. In fact, shortly before her death, the car Lisa is riding in hits and kills a small child. Lopes shows his shoes in the documentry, and says "His last name was Lopez. Isn't that something" She feels that the spirit killed him by mistake."
"His Last name was Lopez". Whose last name? The childs? "He shows his shoes"? What?
Having seen the documentary in question yes the little boys name was Lopez(pronounced the same way phonetically but spelled differently).Yes she also hit him with a car, two days(im guessing as it difficult to determine time in film unless time ela[psed is directly stated)before her own death. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.34.246.81 (talk) 18:53, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- She wasn't driving, her assistant was. ExistentialBliss (talk) 17:57, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm totally lost.
There was a small mistake to which I'm not too sure which article is correct. Under Lisa Lopes Bio it says that Anastacia scored 3rd place in "The Cut" but in Anastacia's Bio it showed her as scoring in 2nd place.
Female rappers with #1 songs on the Hot 100
I've been reading other articles on other female rappers that make mention of only 5 female rappers (Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, Remy Ma, and Shawna) having #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lopes was definitely categorized as a rapper during her career and two of the four #1 Hot 100 singles ("Waterfalls" and "No Scrubs") of TLC's career featured raps by Lopes. I think it's only fair she be added to this exclusive list. Three of the five female rappers previously mentioned were only collaborators on their #1 Hot 100 singles and Lopes was an official member of a group when her achievements were accomplished.Thezero (talk) 07:09, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Nationality
Many people believed that Left Eye was Cape Verdean, but she has said in interviews that her father is from Honduras, hence the name Lopes. The spelling is used in both Spanish and Portuguese languages. 64.252.52.135 04:35, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
I dunno how accurate that is, I believe the Spanish version is "Lopez" while the Portuguese is "Lopes". I don't think they're interchangeable, that wouldn't make much sense for the respective cultures. I'm pretty sure that even if her dad is from Honduras that the name still comes from Portuguese ancestry. Just my thoughts.
- Well, whoever you are (or were), keep in mind that a) Spanish and Portuguese are not monolithic entities without regional variations or transitional zones, and b) there has been interchange between them over the centuries. For comparison, take a look at the distribution of the Hernández/Fernández/Fernandes set of surnames. The name need not necessarily go back to any traceable Portuguese ancestry. 173.77.78.173 (talk) 05:22, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Lead needs to be expanded with info about solo career
The current lead is inadequate. It needs to be expanded to cover her solo career, collaborations, her charity work, etc. Melonkelon (talk) 23:48, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
Children
Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes had an adopted daughter named Snow Lopes — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:4:4F80:E89:11F9:7B3A:8A1D:48AA (talk) 03:01, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Lisa Lopes → Lisa Left Eye Lopes – I swear to god Lisa is best remembered by her stage name Lisa Left Eye Lopes, not just Lisa Lopes, there are tons of them out there too. TheBellaTwins1445 (talk) 18:17, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose - "Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopez" would look stupid as the article title and "Left Eye" would make no sense, The article currently mentions her nickname which I think is sufficient and as far as I know we don't use nicknames like my example because that's what the lede's for. –Davey2010Talk 00:20, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose - I think it's best that it remains Lisa Lopes, as I agree with Davey2010. Having "Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes" as the article title, is akin to have "Sean "Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy, and Diddy" Combs" as the article title for P. Diddy. Idris2000 (talk) 22:58, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
