More specifics about removing Maintenance templates
[edit]I'm trying to figure out what specifically can be done to remove the two Maintenance templates from this article.
Are there particular issues with the style? Is there some way to make it less like an ad? 2600:1700:4380:17C0:7018:F216:E6F2:E8D7 (talk) 02:33, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, IP editor. Thank you for your interest in improving the article.
For the 'like an ad' issue, the lists of works and exhibitions need quite a lot of trimming. For example, under 'Notable works in museums and private collections', 'Kaiser Redwood City Medical Building, Redwood City, CA, six digital prints for hospital art collection': a medical building isn't an inherently notable place for art. There may be a hospital somewhere which is known for its art collection, with a curator on staff and regular mentions in sources such as ARTNews; this is not it. And 'six digital prints' have no apparent notability. This and similar items don't belong in the article. Similarly, reduce the list of 'Selected invitational exhibits' to places and events that are most significant. Make it a truly select list instead of going on so long that it might lead a reader to wonder what wasn't listed.
To remove the orphan tag ('de-orphan') the article: Are there articles on other artists who are similar enough in some way that it's likely that a reader who's interested in that artist would also be interested in Gass? If so, you could add a link to this article in the 'See also' section of that artist's article. Has Gass collaborated with other artists who have Wikipedia articles? That's another possibility. You can also try searching for lists which might include someone such as Gass. Perhaps there's a 'List of quilt artists' or 'List of California artists'. Hope these suggestions help. Happy editing!
