JENS JENSEN

[edit]

How could both of these entries discusss the history of Lincoln Park without mentioning the influential architect Jens Jensen, the park designer? Lincoln Park is a key moment in landscape architecture and Jensen's important career.

"In 1852, David Kennison, who claimed to have been born in 1736, died and was buried in City Cemetery. Kennison claimed to have been the last survivor of the Boston Tea Party. As recently as 1986, construction in the park has revealed more bodies left over from the nineteenth century."

Sounds like he did this after he was dead :(. Ilyanep 23:20, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)

1968 Riots

[edit]

It is reported that "Yet another aspect of the park were the 1968 Democratic National Convention riots, to which there is no marker in the park."

The 1968 riots were in Grant Park, across the street from the Chicago Hilton & Towers Hi there, I thik that lincoln park zoo should be split off into a seperate article. If you agree, please tell me, and I can work on it. Thanks.

According to http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Delphi/1553/c68chron.html there were riots in Lincoln Park on August 26 & 27 1968 during the convention. Splitting the zoo into its own article sounds like a good idea to me. —JeremyA 00:29, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

David Kinnison

[edit]

Much of the information on Kinnison, is probably wrong. Researchers have determined that he probably lied about just about his entire background (it is currently discussed in an exhibit at the Chicago History Museum. We may either want to remove it or note all of it as being dubious provenance. Shsilver 00:32, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Account claims that Kinnison was not only in Boston Tea Party but also in American Revolution. From "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the American Revolution" Series: Volume 9 .p.124:

"Kennirson, David. Return of recruits sent by Massachusetts as portion of her quota of the Continental Army subsequent to Jan. 1, 1781, who were reported unfit for duty; 2d Mass. regt.; age, 17 yrs.; stature, 4 ft. 9 in.; engaged for town of Lebanon; term 3 years; reported under size." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.83.126.88 (talk) 15:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lincoln Park History

[edit]

I'm not sure how to edit yet, but pretty much everything in the history section of this Lincoln Park entry is inaccurate. Please see http://hiddentruths.northwestern.edu for more information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pbannos (talkcontribs) 13:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great unmined source on the cemetery and its history

Bannos, Pamela (2012). "Hidden truths: Visualizing the City Cemetery". The Chicago Cemetery & Lincoln Park. Northwestern University. Retrieved November 15, 2012. Lots of information there. 7&6=thirteen () 14:38, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Um, if you look at the citations, that resource has been cited in this article for years. Alanscottwalker (talk) 15:42, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
