Stub notice

[edit]

Is this really still a stub? Thmazing (talk) 18:25, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphen

[edit]

And why is it spelled with a hyphen, when the term is solid (lavalava) in both Milner's and Pratt's Samoan dictionaries? 71.178.54.233 (talk) 16:13, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

cf sarongs

[edit]

Apart from having a different name, how is the lava-lava different from a sarong? Within the English Wikipedia we don’t have separate pages for trousers, pantalon, Hosen etc because the garment has a different name in different languages.Tsuguya (talk) 03:58, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lap-lap merger

[edit]

The article Lap-lap should be scrapped and referred here. It is erroneous in its description as applied in PNG and Solomon Islands during the last 50 years (see my Talk under that article), and the simpler form of lavalava is identical to the PNG/Solomons lap-lap or rami. The biggest difference between Polynesian lavalavas and Melanesian laplaps (a more accurate spelling) is that there is little tendency in PNG/Solomons to tailor them for formal occasions, as there is in Polynesia. The Tv series by Federico Vitali

[edit]

Wasn't this page supposed to be Lava-Lava! by Federico Vitali? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:4B:300:BFE9:741A:4873:90D3:7C14 (talk) 20:03, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
