The result of the move request was: not moved, due to concerns that "Lauren Hill" is a likely misspelling of "Lauryn Hill" —Bagumba (talk) 07:30, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Serious question...

[edit]

I'm going to post this now, but I would expect responses after the furor has died down and rationality has resumed. There is a question I'd like to pose seriously, in the sense of quality of the encyclopedia, although I'm going to get a lot of reaction regarding "the tragedy", because this is what always happens in these cases. Therefore, I would point out that we are an encyclopedia, not a news site, and we should be following different rules.

Overarching question: Is this article any better (or any more necessary) than the information given in the 2014 Hiram vs. Mount St. Joseph women's basketball game article? This article was started January 5, 2015, and I would posit that the creator had a conflict of interest, because they haven't contributed to anything else since. I'll add WP:NOTMEMORIAL and WP:BIO1E here as well as points of policy consideration as well. Meanwhile, the game article was started on November 14, 2014, and has sections covering background on Lauren and "subsequent events" (which could include all the awards and other material listed here, because really, it was all subsequent to and a result of the game).
