Discussion: Reintroducing NexDock Mention

[edit]

Hello everyone,

I'd like to propose adding back a brief mention of NexDock in this article. I understand it was previously removed due to concerns about notability and conflict of interest. I am the founder of NexDock and have disclosed this on my user page. However, I believe NexDock provides important context for the evolution of lapdock devices, so I’d prefer to discuss it here first rather than editing directly.

Rationale for Inclusion:

  • Ladock for Windows Mobile phone: NexDock was introduced in 2016 as the first lapdock for Windows phones.[1]
  • Lapdock for Raspberry Pi: Featured in The MagPi magazine.[2]
  • Lapdock for Intel Compute Card: Briefly supported Intel’s Compute Card until it was discontinued.[3]
  • Lapdock for Samsung DeX: Later adapted for Samsung DeX. Draft:NexDock

While I acknowledge my bias as the founder, independent reviewers and users have noted NexDock’s role in extending the lapdock category for a variety of devices.

Suggested Content:

“NexDock introduced one of the first consumer-focused lapdock solutions in 2016, expanding compatibility over time to devices such as the Raspberry Pi, Intel Compute Card, Samsung DeX, and mini PCs.”

I’m open to any feedback on how to best present this information in a neutral, verifiable way. Please let me know your thoughts or if you’d prefer a different approach. My goal is to ensure we adhere to Wikipedia’s guidelines on verifiability, notability, and maintaining a neutral point of view.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I disagree with this proposed addition - Wikipedia is not a venue to list or promote products in this fashion, and the supplied sources to not establish that this product is 'important context' or of historical significance. MrOllie (talk) 21:28, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with MrOllie. Let's keep the article as it is. Spiralwidget (talk) 00:27, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
