Location

[edit]

Location is given as "12 km SSW of Yambuk, and 22 km SW of Port Fairy". However, the map alongside doesn't show Yambuk, but it does show Portland: therefore either add Yambuk to the map (and remove Portland?), or replace the reference to Yambuk with Portland (i.e. "35 km ESE of Portland").

The scale on the map appears to be wrong: the scaled distance of LJPI from Port Fairy is close to 32 km, not 22 km as stated, and the scaled distance to Yambuk is 20 km, not 12 km as stated. Scaling off my Atlas of Australia (1:1000000) gives these distances as 20 km and 12 km respectively, which are in good agreement with the stated distances. If the 20 km bar on the map showed 15 km the scaled and stated distances would be in better agreement.

The direction of LJPI from Port Fairy is not SW as stated, but closer to SSW. 121.44.6.232 (talk) 01:19, 4 January 2014 (UTC) Hawkeye[reply]

On a related note, I'm not sure where the '6km off the coast' number comes from. Playing around with Google Maps the shortest distance I can find from the island to the mainland is a little over 8km. What is the source of the 6 kilometre distance? TheDiamondFiretail (talk) 05:38, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
