Population

[edit]

The text says 723,000, the box 711,000. -- Beardo 04:44, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The ref for 2004 gives 722k. --Qyd 12:18, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move proposal

[edit]

Should the page be moved to La Habana Province? It would be closer to the official name, and more disambiguated from Havana. --Qyd 12:18, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I support your proposal as I am supporter of official names of administrative subdivisions. - Darwinek 12:26, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting Havana Province

[edit]

The current western boundary of the new Artemisa Province as shown in the map is not correct, since this new province will include the three eastern municipalities of Pinar del Río. Please refer to the article Artemisa Province for a correction or to Spanish version (Alabrada (talk) 17:11, 8 November 2010 (UTC))[reply]

After 2011 changes

[edit]

The name "La Habana Province" now applies to what was previously the province of "Ciudad de la Habana". However, I suggest that we wait a while before reflecting that change, in order to update articles that link here first. -- Beardo (talk) 02:56, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article

[edit]

There are several issues with the article. The disambiguation note at the top has a couple of links which redirect back here. The article mixes different things. We have a map which says "The actual municipalities of the Havana Province. The Red Colored Municipalities (which acts as boroughs) are the actual and proper City of Havana while the rest in Green are Municipalities that combines to be part of the Metropolitan Havana and Province." - which links to the article on Havana which covers the whole city. Who says that the red part of the map is the "actual and proper" city ? -- Beardo (talk) 01:06, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above remark. For clarity:
  • Until the newest Division of 2010, there were 2 (two) provinces which had La Habana in their name:
- La Habana (proper), which included most of what is present-day Artemisa, and Mayabeque
- Ciudad de La Habana, which was located to its North, "engulfed" by it, and included the city of La Habana (Havana; in Spanish: la ciudad de La Habana)
  • After the most recent changes in 2010, only the capital kept the name:
- The old province of La Habana was split into Artemisa (also claiming 3 municipalities from Pinar del Rio), and Mayabeque;
- The old Ciudad de La Habana was changed into simply La Habana.
The city of La Habana was said to be a "3x capital":
  • For the province Ciudad de La Habana
  • For the namesake province La Habana
  • For the whole country
I won't deny it's confusing, but that's how it was/is. --Tinhog (talk) 05:27, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
