Help with moving/renaming page

[edit]

Hi there,

I'm trying to get this page moved/redirected from its current name LMAX Exchange to LMAX Group but don't have the right permissions to do so.

Please can someone do this for me?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lemeax2018 (talkcontribs) 12:20, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

When repairing your failed attempts I linked to Help:How to move a page, where it is stated that you need to make 10 article edits before you get that permission. I suggest going to Special:RecentChanges and undoing some vandalism. --bdijkstra (talk) 13:01, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your input. It said somewhere that other users can do this for you which is all I'd need. If you have the right permission and time to do so, please could you help me out? thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lemeax2018 (talkcontribs) 16:04, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

The marketing team at LMAX Group would like to update some information on this page with more up to date information:

Number of employees : 220 (2022)

It would also be great to add some information about the 2021 valuation of $1 billion and 30% acquisition by J.C Flowers & co: [1] , [2] Lmaxmarketing (talk) 14:54, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[3][reply]

Partly done. Added details about the 30% stake, and updated financials based on 2020 Annual Report (which appears to be the latest). Please provide a citation for the employee count. Ptrnext (talk) 18:02, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Correction needed: Net Income, GBP for financials

[edit]

Hi. I work for Vested, a communications agency for LMAX. I am following the WP:PAID and WP:COI policies and wanted to note that the net income in the Infobox is incorrect. The figure given is an incorrect conversion of GBP to dollars. It should be:

| net_income = Increase£13.9 million (2020)[1]

I’d also request a correction of the currency for revenue, total assets and total equity. The currency of the annual report is British pounds (£) not USD (see pg. 25 and 26 of annual report).[1] A conversion to dollars was not in the annual report or in the media - and as the mistake in net income shows, it’s not a good idea for Wikipedia to try to do it independently.

The revised infobox should read:

|revenue = Increase £50.94 million (2020)[1]

| net_income = Increase£13.9 million (2020)[1] | assets = Increase£326.85 million (2020)[1]

| equity = Increase £25.5 million (2020)[1]

Thanks. Sunshine0826 (talk) 18:14, 21 October 2022 (UTC) Sunshine0826 (talk) 18:14, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Sunshine0826! I understand your concern, and I agree with you on publishing results in pounds sterling rather than converting to US dollars. I can make the edits and publish them for you, since I have no connection to LMAX Group. But you are citing the company's annual report. That's what is termed a primary source. Wikipedia prefers secondary sources. (The distinction is explained here in https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:No_original_research#Primary,_secondary_and_tertiary_sources) In this case, a good secondary source would be an article published in a newspaper with a reputation for fact-checking (e.g. The Financial Times or The Economist) or a rating agency (e.g. Moody's or Standard and Poor's) or a security analyst report that verifies even some of the 2020 financial results. Can you direct me to any of those? If no secondary sources are available, the annual report and corporate disclosure documents can be our references; these are good primary sources, at least for publicly traded companies, because they are reviewed for accuracy by legal counsel and accountants before publication. Cordially, BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 11:44, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BuzzWeiser196: I think a primary source would be fine for information like this. Brycehughes (talk) 06:25, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Brycehughes: understood. I suspect we'll end up using the company's annual report. It includes an accountant's opinion letter. BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 10:01, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BuzzWeiser196 and Brycehughes, I received a message from Sunshine0826 regarding this topic. Since I do agree that for financials of this nature the annual report should be more than fine and you're already into this, can I assume that one of you is doing the update? Tec Tom (talk) 14:44, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'll get to it tomorrow. BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 20:48, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi all, this is geraldshields11. I am grateful that Sunshine0826 reached out to us. I concur with using the primary source in this case. Geraldshields11 (talk) 01:06, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've made the requested changes, but I'm wondering why we're reporting figures for the year ended Dec. 31, 2020. That was almost two years ago. Surely results for the year ended Dec. 31, 2021 are available by now. Why aren't they on the LMAX web site? BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 11:14, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Who knows. I'd say wait until the end of the year and then remove the figures for being stale. Brycehughes (talk) 14:13, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Brycehughes, BuzzWeiser196 and Geraldshields11. Financials for 2021 were released yesterday! Apologies for not having the updated numbers when I pointed out the error for 2020, I wasn’t privy to when the 2021 annual report would be released. Here are the 2021 numbers:
|revenue = Increase £85.91 million (2021)[2]

| net_income = Increase£30.08 million (2021)[2]

| assets = Increase£630.28 million (2021)[2]

| equity = Increase £64.4 million (2021)[2]
Thanks for your help on this, I really appreciate it.Sunshine0826 (talk) 21:48, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. I should be able to make these edits today. BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 12:17, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sunshine0826 @Sunshine0826: Done. Regards, BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 14:43, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
