On the basis of the history of recent edits, there is a disagreement between Ejacobs8990, a relatively inexperienced editor, and Bon courage in regard to the inclusion of some of Varady's publications in the body of the article. The issue appears to be related to the need for acceptable secondary references such as reviews as a basis for inclusion. In the meantime, under External links I have included a link to Researchgate which provides a list of her publications. I suggest that any further attempts at including titles of papers in the body of the article should be discontinued until they can be backed by acceptable sources.--Ipigott (talk) 06:25, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We shouldn't have links to search engine results in articles. The problem with the additions Ejacobs8990 keeps making (as discussed elsewhere) is that they contain WP:OR in the form of promotional editorial, which is also factually wrong in some cases. Varady's papers can also be found here. Bon courage (talk) 06:31, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Bon courage, for clarifying your views. I don't think I've had the pleasure of talking to you before but I'm happy to see you are keen to maintain high standards on Wikipedia and that you take a special interest in the health sector (as well as in classical music). Can I interpret your comment as a suggestion that it would have been acceptable to include the Pubmed link under External links? If so, I'll go ahead and add it. As you probably gathered, I was trying to offer a little encouragement to an upset newbie although I have little experience of the health sector and rarely write about English speakers. I thought a link to Varady's papers would help until valid citations are included on her publications, especially as nothing had resulted from Authority control. Has ResearchGate been cited anywhere for not being an acceptable link on Wikipedia? If you think it should be avoided, you should perhaps draw wider attention to its failings. I see, by the way, that Krista Varady's page at UIC also provides a link to Pubmed. Perhaps it would be better to include that site under External links rather than Pubmed?--Ipigott (talk) 11:51, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think links to dynamic searches should be avoided (that researchgate page is an automatic search result, effectively), but have no problem with the link to Varady's UIC page. In general material about Varady would be more useful than material by her. Bon courage (talk) 12:09, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
