I lean towards thinking the scope should include both Koryo-saram and Sakhalin Korean cuisine, as they may not be separately independently notable enough to merit a split.
If that's the case, calling this page "Koryo-saram cuisine" is unfair to Sakhalin Koreans, who generally consider themselves separate (see Sakhalin Koreans for explanation). Brainstorming alternatives:
Post-Soviet Korean cuisine
But this implies time scope is after the Soviet Union only
Soviet Korean cuisine
Similar issue, risks sounding like it's during the Soviet Union era only
Oppose. What is actually wrong with the current title? It seems fine. It certainly seems better than the proposals. Neither Soviet nor post-Soviet describes the full chronological scope (and “post-Soviet” is not recommended).[1] And cuisine of the Russosphere Koreans!? Just no. —MichaelZ.04:08, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I explain the rationale for the current title of "Koryo-saram cuisine" in my proposal. I lean towards thinking the scope should include both Koryo-saram and Sakhalin Korean cuisine, as they may not be separately independently enough to merit a split. If that's the case, calling this page "Koryo-saram cuisine" is unfair to Sakhalin Koreans, who generally consider themselves separate (see Sakhalin Koreans for explanation).
Sakhalin Koreans and Koryo-saram are not culturally the same people. Koryo-saram reportedly treated Sakhalin Koreans pretty poorly historically, which has created animosity mostly from the Sakhalin side.
While maybe it's best that we separate them in general, for this page, to my understanding, Sakhalin cuisine has blended into the larger Koryo-saram cuisine. I've seen a bunch of videos where Koryo-saram cook up Sakhalin dishes, and my guess is the average post-Soviet probably doesn't distinguish between the cuisine of the two.
Tl;dr in order:
Their cuisine (I think?) is blended together.
If we want one page for the blended cuisine, we should title it to avoid unnecessarily offending anyone.
It occurs to me that since the parent topic of the respective cultural groups are two independent articles, WP:CONSUB could be interpreted to support naming both in the title of this shared subtopic. —MichaelZ.13:30, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes this makes sense. I need to get around to confirming if they're intertwined via academic-quality sources for this topic. My brain has been a bit spent lately so I've been doing easy research for past few days. toobigtokale (talk) 19:24, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Finally got around to it; I think I misjudged and their cuisines are distinct (although probably not to the average outsider). What threw me off is people often confuse the two cuisines, namely by calling Sakhalin dishes Koryo-saram dishes.

I still need to make the sakhalin korean cuisine split; I'm about to go traveling for a few months so my pace of work may slow down. I'll try to squeeze it in soon. I won't forget about this though, will come back to it. If anyone else wants to make the split, I encourage them to toobigtokale (talk) 20:20, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
