Merge into Howard Dean?

[edit]

Is there any reason why this article should exist? All of the information here is covered in the article on Howard Dean. In other words, is the man notable enough for an article simply for being the brother of a popular politician and being an influence on said brother's life? HumbleGod 06:54, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am the author of the article. I am planning to re-do it as soon as time permits to make it worthy of continued inclusion. JoeGoodfriend 22:00, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it's looking a lot better now! HumbleGod 00:29, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

From Vermont?

[edit]

Should he be categorized as "People from Vermont"? According to the Howard Dean article, he and his brothers grew up in New York, and Howard Dean moved to Vermont as an adult. --Saforrest 07:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Executed people

[edit]

I replaced this with Category:American murder victims. I feel it is inappropriate to describe Dean's death at the hands of Pathet Lao guerillas as execution; execution is, strictly speaking, killing by the state or other legal authority. Killing by a non-state actor is not execution, it is murder. Terraxos (talk) 01:51, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Charles Dean AP.jpg

[edit]

Image:Charles Dean AP.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Requested move 7 December 2016

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved to Killing of Charles Dean and Neil Sharman. (non-admin closure) Fuortu (talk) 22:26, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Charles DeanKilling of Neil Sharman and Charles Dean – Dean and Sharman were killed while young, and are remembered for the manner of their death; the two were traveling together in Thailand in 1974 when they were captured and killed by the Communist Pathet Lao guerrillas. Coverage of their deaths, which has continued in American and Australian press in the decades since the killing, tends to cover their deaths as a single event. Neither is notable outside this event. material to support this was presented in the AFD, and also on the page, where the lede will need to bee rejiggered to accommodate this shift. Covering Dean, but not Sharman, in the lede is awfully Yank-centric, imho, downunder, it's Shaman in the headlines, with Dean mentioned later in the articles; visa versa in the U.S. Oh, also, I moved it thinking it was uncontroversial, but it was reverted. Yes, the move is a very good idea. FYI - I created this article on Charles Dean in 2004. Joegoodfriend (talk) 21:44, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Say, shouldn't the two names be in alphabetical order? :) Joegoodfriend (talk) 21:46, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for creating the ariticle. I have no opinion on order. don't think that I even though about it. but, sure, alphabetical is good.E.M.Gregory (talk) 22:03, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
