The result of the move request was: not moved. Hariboneagle927 makes a good point. No prejudice against a new RM after the trial(s). Jenks24 (talk) 06:39, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose although casual conversation, "murder" and "killing" are interchangeable. The two words have different meaning in legally. Murder has potential nonNPOV issues. I suggest waiting for convictions of Jje's killers before renaming the article to the proposed title. "killing" does not suggest that the crime was random or not premeditated and the current title is neutral and does not take sides either with Supporters of Jee or the accused police officers.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 23:27, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: not moved. All responses are in favor of retaining the current title, under the basis that the perpetrators in this topic were not convicted of "murder", which is the bar for usage of that term per WP:DEATHS (see the flowchart).
One response noted that the convictions were for "Kidnapping with homicide", which was interpreted as not being "murder" - since this specific legal question can't be resolved here, I will say that future interpretation (by sources) could still affect the title (especially given that this still had fairly limited participation given the topic and its usual level of discussion), but for the time being it looks like we have consensus. Oppose and comment Yes murder and homicide are two distinct charges. "killing" is not inaccurate but having "homicide" is too formal. The former term is more straightforward.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 04:16, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
